Boring thread - mileage improvements?
So my 2019 RDX sh-awd has 52,000 miles on it. Maintained exactly to the specs of the maintenance minder. Tires are always about 34 psi, rotated, balanced and aligned every 5k miles. Only used Premium and toss in Seafoam about every 5 tanks. Air filter is spotless. I see people doing tunes to improve performance. However, how about a tune to get decent mileage???? Without a heavy foot and I’m Comfort mode, it get like 16 city and maybe 23 hwy. considering it is premium, that is just about as shitty as our 2014 Pilot that takes regular and much heavier with a V6 and meaty tires. This doesn’t keep me up at night but I’m just surprised that these don’t get a little better mileage. Anyone find any mods that do anything other than only driving downhill? Lol
- I have been running 87 since new and do the absolute minimum maintenance to keep it in spec (I did try 91 and 93 and mpg dropped slightly but not significantly)
- Oil change about every 7-8k or when it reads 15%
- I mostly granny drive it except here and there when I mat it for no reason
- I commute off hours - I live 2 miles off the highway, drive 40 miles to work 100% highway, my actual office is 2 miles of the highway, and repeat on the way home
- My best mpg was my recent trip to Pittsburgh from Philadelphia at 28.0 for about 700 miles round trip (basically 100% highway from 60-70mph)
- My mileage is hand-calculated but it is within 0.1 of what is indicated on the trip information
I'm at 45k on my 2020 Advance and I get 25-26mpg with 90% highway. When I do mostly city (which I avoided like the plague) I'm at 13-14mpg. More information:

Freeway at 70-73mph is the sweet in covering distance and mpg's. City stop and go is just terrible, but so will all other ICE vehicles. Regular petrol may loss 20ish HP due to the computer adjusting - but it tend to get better mpg IMO. Honestly, I don't notice the loss in HP going to regular.
