Auxiliary Input Question

If I have music on a USB stick and then I get to my destination and turn off the car, the sound system keeps functioning until I open the door. So am I supposed to just rip out the USB stick in the middle of the song? Or do I have to open the door so the sound system turns off, then turn back and remove the USB stick? Or do you switch the sound input to something else (like radio, for example) and then take out the USB stick and then open the door?

I don't think you have to do it in any ordered way. Theoretically, you should be able to just yank it out. USB are supposed to be hot-swappable. But this is the Acura RDX infotainment system. No telling how it will react. I would first switch to another medium like FM radio.

I leave the USB drive plugged in all the time.

On a computer you shouldn’t rip out a usb stick that’s in use because the file system could be left in an inconsistent state. On a read-only system like the music player, that shouldn’t be a problem.

I just pull it out if I need it when leaving vehicle. Works fine for me. Best practice is to not be using it when you yank it though.

Yeah, there's no "eject USB" option, like on a computer, so you have to eventually just pull it out. I guess, embarrassingly, I did forget that I could turn the power off manually on the audio system. Weird how you forget about that once the car turns things off for you, ha ha.
