After one year

After one year of ownership I can say I love this car. Came from a 2013 RDX. At first I was uncertain about giving up my 6 cylinder that I loved so much, but this four-banger is fine. Gas mileage is not great but compares to my old RDX, for my driving style I was getting better mileage on the highway with the 6 but this 4 cylinder wins in city driving. I just love the interior and all the options.

Nice looking vehicle.
My wife and I have only had 6 cylinder cars for many years, but will now be buying a 4 cylinder. We are so concerned about the difference in the "feel" of 4-cylinder drivetrain. I think the interior cabin will be noisier at highway speeds and of course no turbo lag. When the 2022s are out in numbers, we plan to test drive the newest RDX.

its pretty comparable the only issue is the mpg loss when you want that power
i had 4cyl forever, 10 hondas 1 toyota and a nissan .. when the 2nd gen rdx came out i grabbed one and loved the v6 but for daily zipping around wasnt really needed so we picked up a 2015 mdx for the space... same thing... yelled when u floored it but really just to pull the weight

the 3rd gen rdx engine is basically "on tap" u can coast and it be a stone or slam it and have some fun
space wise and mpg my 5th gen crv trumps it all day BUT for fun driving the rdx is a blast, even before i flashed it

it really depends on what you drove previously

We are in the same boat in that we are both driving V6s and have been for a very long time. Prior to that we were both driving I4s - we have been in the Honda/Acura family since the 80s. Very interested in looking at a 22 when and if the chip crisis settles and when there are more 22's on the road. We will then test drive the 4 cylinder to see and feel what the differences are. I know I will notice the differences, but seeing it would be my wife's daily driver, it make not make enough difference to matter. Time will tell.

Some may find this thread interesting reading - https://acurazine.com/forums/third-g...ration-985554/

Like the OP, we went from a Gen 2 (2014) to a 2021 and also like the OP, we just hit the one year mark. I was also a bit concerned about the 4 vs 6 cyl but the 4 cyl seems every bit as quick as the V6 altho we got better gas mileage in the V6. The cabin actually seems a bit quieter, most of the noise seems to come from the silly fake engine noise that you can't turn off...I could definitely do without that. I do notice a little turbo lag, tho, not much but it is there...but nothing like the lag our Ford diesel pickup had. I was a bit skeptical about some of the fancy features (it's an Advance model with SH-AWD) but now find most of them to be useful. I do have some gripes but nothing major, just a bit annoying (like not being able to turn off that stupid fake engine noise and that many of the settings reset to the default when you restart the car rather than stay across restarts, mainly the auto idle stop and some of the nav/infotainment settings). Overall we really like the car.

Just taking a whole bunch of guesses here ...

Is that east coast Canada? I see no front plate (Quebec vehicle maybe?) and folded mirrors (which I believe were Canada only until 2022 model).

Had two 4 cyl crossovers before and absolutely hated it. First time with a turbo 4 and that turbo definitely makes a big difference. I had a V6 TLX before this and the pickup on the RDX is so much better! I feel like the tranny on the TLX was a slouch.

Are the mirrors folded? If so, did you do it manually? (Your car looks like a Tech based on the wheels.)
Are those blue calipers on the brakes?

This 4 cylinder is fine, there is some lag when you want full power, but I feel it is more of a hesitation in the transmission looking for the right gear than turbo lag. As far as cabin noise, I first thought there was a lot of tire noise in this car but am wondering if it is not that you can't hear much engine noise or wind noise in this car making tire noise more noticable, this motor is more quiet than my 6 cylinder under normal driving. The '22 is supposed to be even quieter.

You are bang on with your guesses, I live in New Brunswick on the coast, we don't have front license plate any more (finally). The front end of a car makes or breaks the looks of a car, designers spend a lot of time on it I'm sure then the governments want you to stick a useless front plate in there. The mirrors fold on the Canadian Elite from the factory.

I always paint my calipers, usually silver, the blue was an experiment (a la BMW) will probably change it to silver next summer. I used the new G2 caliper paint.

We have been enjoying our RDX SH AWD Advance since April of 2019. Love the car. True our '17 CR-V did a little better on gas but this RDX rocks next to the CR-V. I have zero complaints overall with this vehicle and have never had a second thought about buying it.
