Update for wireless CarPlay?
Update for wireless CarPlay?
Does anyone know if the update to the 2022 model for wireless CarPlay could be downloaded via the 2021 systems? Or is a hardware update needed too?
Thanks; sorry for being technologically challenged...

I currently use this adapter and it has worked with little to no issues. It may not be as perfect as an OEM wireless CarPlay, but it's something.

Thanks for the tip, have been hoping to hear that the carlinkit or cplay2air work for our cars. Honestly, was hoping to hear of an Apple OEM solution but next best thing.
Picked one up and worked out of the box. (Did have to unplug the unit once but hoping it was just a one time deal. Excited to go for a longer drive now and not need to plug in.

I need a solution for wireless charging as well. I wish the 2022 RDX wireless charger can somehow be retrofitted into 2019-2021 model
With regard to the external wireless CarPlay adapter CarlinKit 3.0 Wireless CarPlay Adapter reference above, there is mention on the Amazon page that the phone must not be connected to any other BlueTooth networks - "Our adapter has WiFi and Bluetooth hardware. It connects with Bluetooth and sends the WiFi credentials to the phone, then disconnects from the Bluetooth network. It works solely on WiFi from that point on. As a plug-and-play solution, the Carlinkit is very easy to install. Turn on the Bluetooth and WiFi networks on your phone. Make sure your phone is not connected to any other WiFi or Bluetooth networks and remove the hands-free connection from your phone and car system settings."
Does this mean that it does not work concurrently with an Apple Watch connected via BlueTooth? Anyone have this and uses an Apple watch?. This might be a consideration for me to further consider this product.

Stuck it right on top of the passenger airbag warning light, angled toward the driver and it fits the biggest phone I have fine. The USB port below is conveniently located, so much so that I didn't even bother routing the cable so it was hidden. So far, held up well and the phone stays secure over even the worse stretches of road around here. I'm very happy with it, and I'm usually super critical of things like this.
I just bought this mount, which works great if you have a magsafe phone:

I got a call back, and was told that nothing was in the works and that they would pass along my message to [some team] (can't recall).
As someone familiar with software development - I know that that is code for ... "Hahahaha! Listen to wha dis po' bah-bee wants our product to do "
I was actually THAT person who a few weeks ago I opened a ticket with Acura via their owners website - linking to an article on how Infiniti was retrofitting it to several models.

It isn't reasonable to expect future year options to be back-ported and made available on prior years. New features is one of the reasons people refresh their vehicles and considerable expense.
Honda suggested that wireless CarPlay could be available via a software update that would be implemented after a dealer visit to 2018-2020 model Accords. I know this because I received a targeted survey from Honda a few months back asking how willing I would be to partake in this service update, and what I'd be willing to pay.
I remember some people on Reddit suggested this could be possible with the RDX since the hardware was similar, but Honda has yet to announce a wireless CarPlay upgrade path for the Accord... so I wouldn't hold my breath on it coming to the RDX anytime soon 😕 You never know what will happen, but they drag their feet on things like this.

I purchased this wireless adapter and it worked right out of the box, basically plug and play. As far as Bluetooth, I didn't need to disconnect anything (including my AppleWatch). I did not remove the hands-free connection from my phone and car system settings and have not had any issues.
My only issue now with my CPLAY2air is that my Blackvue 900x dashcam is also wi-fi, if i run the Blackvue app to download a video I have to remember to pull the CarPlay adapter. Otherwise the CarPlay unit quickly tries to reconnect the phone—and succeeds, cancelling the download.

I just use a Proclip holder with the built in cable, phone plops right in just as easy as sticking it onto a magsafe charger. My issue was finding a magsafe compatible holder with charger, they all charge way too slowly. The only option to get the full 15w was using Apple's magsafe charger, but even that (from what I've read) has aggressive temperature control which limits it to 10w. Even if I went that route I was not able to find a car power plug/adapter that allowed this. I tried several combinations and spent hours browsing reviews, none of the combos were charging much faster than having Waze open was using up my battery, some combos even less!
Just wanted to throw in my experience with the ‘22 MDX and wireless CarPlay.
Now if the phone is connected with Bluetooth Siri is not available. In the MDX a USB stick can’t be used if you are using wireless CarPlay, that may just be an issue with the MDX.
The MDX is my wife’s normal car, so I haven’t gotten to experiment much. Will let y’all know if I do.
