looking into buy a 2013 RDX

I am planning on selling my 2011 RDX and looking into buy 2013. Any issue that i should be aware? How's the gas mileage? any tranny or engine issues? I am selling my 2011 mainly because of gas mileage.

Have a 2013 AWD base. So far 112K miles and nothing but scheduled maintenance and have averaged 24.0 mpg. It still runs like new and if I can just avoid the new car bug I hope to get over 200K miles on it. Good luck with your search.

I have a 2013 AWD Tech and it's amazing. Gas mileage is much better if you don't get too happy with the gas pedal lmao, but sometimes it's hard to lay off. The V6 is extremely reliable and the transmission is also known to be really good.

We have a 2014 RDX with 125,000 miles. This car has been problem free. I drive the MDX and my Wife has the RDX (I drove the RDX for 3 years), the RDX is still great and I still enjoy driving it.

We've had a 2014 RDX tech since new, now 109k miles. It's been quite reliable. I've replaced a rear window wiper motor, and the battery (twice). I'd make sure periodic maintenance has been performed, including timing belt depending on mileage and transmission fluid changes.

The RDX is not known as fuel-efficient vehicle. Based on Fuelly, the gas mileage on the 2nd gen RDX is around 3 mpg better than the 1st gen, on average. Do you drive enough miles to make that difference worth changing vehicles?

I do drive mostly in the city. 1st Gen use premium Gas so more expensive to fill up. Another vehcile i was looking at is 2011 Acura MDX. But i am worries about the MDX engine. I have been reading about oil consumption.

Like most vehicles, the 2013 RDX recommends using premium gas, but does not require it. Our 2019 TLX V6 says the same thing. We run regular in both. You will get folks on both sides of the premium versus regular fuel debate. Also have a Miata with a “high strung” 4 cylinder, like your 2011, that has an aftermarket ECU tune for premium, so that gets it.

Like I said above, I'd check the math on buying a 2nd gen only fuel cost reasons. At 15,000 miles per year, improving fuel economy by 3 mpg plus saving 60 cents a gallon on gas may save you $1000 a year. That's a significant amount, but vehicle purchases can be expensive, too. Consider the cost of taxes, license fees, etc. Will you need to do any bassline maintenance on the new vehicle? Is it close to a major service interval i.e. timing belt? Will you be able to sell your current vehicle for a good price (trading in to a dealer you will not get a good price)?
A lot of us run regular gas in the 2nd gen RDX with no issues. I don't know much about the first gen., you may want to check to see if that's a possibility.
You probably already know this, but the 1st and 2nd gen are VERY different cars to drive.

I have always been envious of people like you who own a first gen RDX - a small athletic/sporty SUV. Probably ten years ahead of its time, and what most auto makers are trying to create now. They went main stream with the second gen, even eliminating SH-AWD. I would guess you could do very well selling the 2011 yourself, vice trade in, if you move to a 2013.

We had an 11 RDX which was also problem free which we traded in for the 14 RDX. The only issue was the gas mileage of the 11 was horrible. The 14 has way better gas mileage, and the V6 is IMHO is a way better engine. The 11 was a very good car, but the 14 was a huge step forward except the SH-AWD, but we did not even notice the difference between the AWD systems.

I would think that the SH-AWD is noticed mainly when turning quickly and racing lol.
