Well it is using a production 10AT and a production SHAWD unit. It's not crazy to think that this could portend some sort of future 48V production model.

I wonder what mods they made to the 10AT for 350hp/330tq? I hope the 10AT is 100% stock for us that want to do Hondata Stage I or II later.

Acura come out with a true performance vehicle for the masses? Bwhahahahah!
Acura seems to be concerned with one thing - Mainstream. Performance vehicles are not the mainstream. You don't see the mainstream buying Lexus IF S, BMW M3 or Audi S4.

the Pikes Peak team and Peter Cunningham have been racing the event for over 10 years...
Did we get any of those special race cars??? nope.
one off, specifically for the Pikes Peak event.
there has been a 3G Pikes Peak TL AND 4G TL pikes peak!
a 2nd gen NSX Pikes peak and a TLX Pikes peak...
now, Peter Cunningham and his team have done it again with the RDX

I grew up in Colorado Springs, hiked to the top of Pikes Peak, and remember the hill climb when it was a dirt road to the 14,114 foot summit. The modified 350hp/330tq RDX at that altitude will feel like it has less power compared to a factory 19 RDX at normal elevations.

Forced induction will mitigate that somewhat. Bigger turbo, and electric supercharger to minimize lag while the big turbo gets its boost on. It would be interesting to see specs for the thing "at altitude", but of course max dyno power/torque isn't necessarily what they will be getting while they are trying to keep the thing on the hairpins and not taking a short cut down the mountain.
I've read articles on 48-volt superchargers and electric turbo chargers. The electric turbo can eliminate turbo lag at low rpms and you can use a larger turbo for almost flat max tq across the rpm band. Even talked about how the turbo exhaust can recharge the system if you have a hybrid system when you are using no boost. I would love for Acura to be the 1st to mass produce hybrid, gas, electric force induction into one engine. They have all the parts already in the parts bin.
We might be looking at a Type-S or Type-R RDX or MDX with the tech in this Pikes Peak hill climber in a few years.

These race cars don't have the same reliability as production cars. They only need to last a few races. I assume you'd want your car to last many years.

with the 3G TL; yes, the A-Spec did count for something! the aspec body kit actually lowered drag coefficient. it was designed by a pro-race car driver.
sadly, since the 2nd gen TSX, aspec has been just an appearance package with no real performance gains, just aesthetics.
