2025 Acura RDX oil change

Did my first oil change the manual says under 4.8 litres I had to put 5.3 litres to get it to the full mark on the dip stick anyone else had to add a bit more than the manual says

Google says 5.1 quarts (not liters) for the capacity... not sure why your manual would say 4.8.

If you didn't prefill the filter that would explain the small difference.

My first oil change I was also puzzled at the discrepancy between the stick and what the book said. My dealer told me that what the book says will take you to roughly midway between thr ADD and FULL marks and that is by design. And indeed that is the case on my 2022. If you then find it higher than the midpoint, then you likely have fuel dilution occurring for some reason.

The interesting thing about this is my Porsche, with the book quantity of oil is one notch below the top on th electronic gauge. Porsche says this is on purpose so that the driver can detect fuel dilution of the oil. It it is at the top of the electronic gauge and dilution occurs you will be unaware of the dilution. It should be noted that some Porsche’s do not have dipsticks.

Since I change oil every 3-4k miles, I dont bother setting perfect level to full mark. Just dump 5qt and it will be slightly under full mark.

We have 2 cars, a 2020 RDX and a 2024 Kia Seltos. Just under 5 quarts brings the Seltos to the full mark and just over 5 quarts brings the RDX to the full mark so it works out perfect for us.

I have never seen the level on the dipstick change from right on the full mark between oil changes on either car even though Oil Analyzers says the RDX has greater than 5% fuel in the oil and the Seltos has greater than 3%.

The reason is that some oil is burned off and replaced with fuel, so the net volume might stay unchanged. My experience is the same. All cars burn off small amount of oil, which is acceptable.

5% of 5qt, is 1/4qt of gas.

Same here - just pour in a 5qt bottle and call it a day.
