RDX Oil Change Schedule
RDX Oil Change Schedule
I just had the 2nd oil change with my RDX. Each oil change last about 7,000 KMs (then 5% shown on indicator). It seems more frequent than other Acura I used to have. It was required at most every 8,000 KMs. Service dept in dealership told me that the indicator is based on the driving habit and quality of the oil in the engine. But I really doubt it, I think it is pre-set by mileage and time. What do you guys think ? If that is the case, I don't really have to follow the indicator that closely which always gives me a pressure to change oil before it goes down to 0%
I think the reason you need to replace the oil more frequently has more to do with the engine having a turbocharger. The other Acuras do not have that component. Turbos and heat are a combination that requires more respect as far as oil changes go.

The RDX oil change schedule for me (and I use the computed remaining life as displayed to change at 5% life) is better than my previous Honda 4-cylinder non-turbo using non-synthetic oil. 5300 miles / 8500 km, compared to the older technology 3750 miles / 6000 km intervals.
I'm happy.
