I have just a base 2022, I test drove a A-spec, and actually had a 2020 as a loaner for a couple of days and I put some miles on it. The seats felt exactly the same to me in terms of support, but I'm not sure if there are any differences besides the leather. In terms of ergonomics, and yes I would consider myself an expert, the RDX seats are lacking. Of course body type makes a huge difference, so what one person hates another loves, that's why it's difficult to assess personal preference, I'm mostly speaking from a more esoteric point of view.

Ok got it. The Advance and above have more adjustments so your complaint would make sense.

On a 2022? On my 2019 it went away after I started driving, but on my 2022 is stays on AND the chime stays chiming, at least as far as I could stand it which was about a mile or so. Just for the records, because I KNOW someone will jump in to tell me to just put my seat belt on, I ALWAYS wear my seat belt so no, it's not a deal breaker or the end of the world, just annoying.

Yes. 2022. I don’t think mine does this but I’ll check it out later today.

Tested it out tonight out of curiosity. The indicator display and chime stay on until about 2 1/2 miles, then they both go off. Way longer than I ever drive without a seat belt. What annoys me is that after I put my seat belt on the chime goes off, but the indicator display, along with a green seat belt denoting I put my seat belt on, stays on for those 2 1/2 miles, so I can't switch between my XM channels. Yeah I know, first world problems for the lazy, lol.

This generation RDX is probably the best looking Acura made in a very long time, but I think most will agree Genesis has the edge on exterior looks across their lineup.

Interior quality is better in my Genesis, but I do have the highest trim so maybe not an apples to apples comparison. Genesis did not hold back using premium quality materials, quilted leather seats and door panels, dashboard and ceiling materials are super soft to the touch, switches and buttons are all sturdy. RDX dashboard material feels kind of cheap to me as well as the glossy plastic around the center console buttons.

Overall drive quality I would have to give to my Genesis as well. My RDX has had the squeaking brakes replaced under warranty and still squeak. Despite being the newer model of my two cars the RDX just has random rattles and squeaks especially going over bumps. Again not apples to apples since the Genesis sits very low to the ground and is a sedan.

Performance wise my Genesis and the TLX type S are comparable. Motor Trend and other car review companies/youtube reviewers are pretty unanimous towards the Genesis in head to head comparisons, I would assume this translates to the GV70/RDX comparison.

Reliability wise Genesis is a young brand with no track record but they have one of the best warranties and Hyundai is generally pretty reliable. This generation RDX has had its fair share of reliability issues. In fact just yesterday my RDX trunk windshield shattered while driving, went to the dealership and there were 2 other RDXs there for the same issue.
I had a G80 lease that I absolutely adored, and that's coming from MB and Audi sedans. I came very close to getting a G70, but in the end it was just a bit too small for me, but it's really phenomenal how much upscale they have built into even the base model. I think one of the factors why I put Genesis above German auto makers is simply their warranty. If German cars were so reliable, you would think they would have longer warranties.

Interesting. I remote started mine. Got in and pushed the start button. No sound but the seat belt display came on. I put my seatbelt on and drove away. No sounds and the seatbelt display went away pretty quickly.

At the end of the day you should just put your seatbelt on before you put it on drive.

I bought a GV70 3.5T Sport Plus back in September. Liked it so much I bought one more 3.5T Sport Plus in October. I used to have a 2019 RDX A-spec, and 9 other Acuras before that.

Finally took my girlfriend for a test drive last week in a 2022 RDX A Spec Advance and, with the exception of the ELS 3D sound system, my girlfriend found every single element to be just a little bit nicer in the Genesis. I agreed, and my mine is made up on the matter. The GV70 is going to be the car for me. Maybe it always was and I was just trying to find more reasons to pull me away from the GV70 towards the Acura, but car for car, the GV70 comes out on top, overall.

That being said, what were the reasons YOU switched to the Genesis after owning an RDX?

I guess it's a good thing that you have 2 GV70's in the family.

Impossible. The RDX is the only vehicle with problems.

I’ve always had Acuras as my beaters, other than the 2 NSXes I used to have in the 90s. They’re ok for what they’re intended to do, but I prefer the GV70 as a daily because it’s just so much more comfortable and quiet plus it’s much faster too, allowing you to have some fun if the opportunity arises.

I doubt you’ll have any regrets going with the Genesis.

Not sure what your point is. The car still drives perfectly. When the new diff arrives, it’ll be replaced. Simple.

Many transfer cases are going out on 3.5s. Defective from the factory. The point is that Hyundai has trouble getting it right, mechanically. It seems every 2 years they have an engine fire recall, for example. Or engine failure catastrophic. Its just a mess with them where it counts. The gv70 sure does look nice though, and uses premium interior giblets.
