2021 to 2023

I recently upgraded from a 2021 RDX Tech to a 2023 RDX Tech. So far no regrets on the change. Dealer was looking to get rid of their 2023s to make room for 2024s and were willing to make some deals. Some of the positive additions are the wireless AA/CP, ambient lighting (even though i wish they went further with it), and it is quieter. I do find the wireless charger to be a little bit of a mixed bag. It does work when I put my phone on it, but if i end up streaming music/nav via AA, it heats up my phone quickly enough so it stops charging, but if I'm using it just to charge the phone without using any of the AA features, it will charge fine.

I was a little surprised when I picked my '21 up the other month that it didnt have wireless CarPlay or USB-C ports. You can find easy solutions on Amazon but I got a 1.5' apple cable to use for CarPlay, its short and doesnt get in the way. Just plug it in and leave the phone in the center.

Wireless only came starting in the MY22 cars.

Many folks are hopeful it comes in the MY24 TLX as it has been absent all this time!

I found with every USB cord I've used for cars with AA, at some point the connections on the pins wear down enough that the data connection becomes unstable until it stops reliably connecting. I have also used those wireless solutions found on Amazon. The one I had used worked well for about 8 months then the unit stopped booting up and would not work.

I don't use the charger at all. I think it's in an awkward place and I tend to keep my phone in the cupholder and plugged in with a wire.

For any one interested it looks like you can add the charger to a pre-2022 RDX by buying the parts. However, as pointed out, I’m not sure it’s worth it.
