2020 A-Spec squeaky rear hatch
Does anyone else have a squeaky rear hatch when they lower it? My 2020 A-Spec makes a short squeak noise when first closing from the open position. Doesn't seem to make it when opening.
Any tips on where to spray some lubricant?

Our 2017 CR-V has a squeaky rear hatch and I use some 100% silicon spray lubricant (CRC Heavy Duty Silicone Spray) on the right strut (the power strut) inner smaller tube. The following video shows how for a Toyota. Majority of the power lift hatches use these type of power servo struts, the inner tube sliding in/out of the outer tube cause the noise. Do not use WD40, use a dry lubricant like silicone or the graphite spray in the video. Use a rag or paper towel to shield any overspray from getting on the body paint.

Mine squeaks once in a while, but when you try again its non reproducible. So I did not bother even telling this to a dealer, these guys dismiss everything anyway

Does anyone know how best to get at the struts/hinges to spray in lube without disassembling all of the plastic trim?

Sorry, just checked and the RDX has a totally different lift servomotor. Yeah, it's well hidden under plastic covers.

Has anyone removed the plastic trim and actually fixed the problem? I removed the curved piece for the right side hinge and sprayed lubricant inside on some bolts and what looked like a piston.. still makes noise briefly when rear hatch first starts to close.
