USB Data Port Shows "No Device Connected"

USB Data Port Shows "No Device Connected"
Hi everyone.
I just purchased a 2017 MDX Navi.
I'm not able to get my Samsung Galaxy S9+ 'recognized' by the USB data port.
My understanding is that playing music from my phone via the USB data port would be better quality than via Bluetooth.
I connect my phone to the the USB port that is to the right of the AUX port in the console.
I've tried various USB A to C cables that are certified for Data not just charging and no luck.
The LED Screen of the radio just shows "No Device Connected"
Any ideas?
