Sony Ericsson T616/USB

Has anyone tried to use the USB connector to synchronize the phone with Microsoft Outlook? The phone on its own works flawlessly and the software for the phone installs without a problem in XP.

However when you try to install the USB connection XP warns that the drivers are not certified and aborts the USB installation. No software updates on Sony's site that I can see. Am I the only one with this problem? Thx.

I was able to connect my Sony Ericsson T616 to my computer via IR and uploaded my phone contact list to Outlook. Also downloaded some digital photos to the phone from the PC. The IR device is connected via a USB port. I got it at Fry's electronics for about $30. I just place the phone (with IRDL activated) in front of the device and it works great. I haven't been able to get our Siemens S56 to work with infra-red connection. I get a message saying I have to delete the Sony Ericsson connection first. So I've ordered a cable (USB) connector for the Siemens to see if that works.

Just get a bluetooth adapter for your computer, you can get them for $40 and up.

The sync software is part of the BT spec, so should be included.

I had problems with my system when I upgraded to outlook 2003, but I haven't gotten around to resetting everything yet; it might just be me.

Good luck.

Thanks for the info. I will research both ideas. Fortunately it is not a show stopper as the phone works fine. I was showing the dealer this morning how the voice phonebook worked along with the small telephone that appears on the dash when connected. I still can't believe what they put in this car. I have gone out of my way looking for an address in bush country, but the navi finds everything. No more maps anywhere.
