Sheared Off the Brake Caliper Bolts

My Ryobi impact screwdriver sheared off and broke my 2015 MDX caliper mounting bolts. They are broken off in the caliper guide pins. I have to now get replacement parts. If I ever find the asshole that overtorqued the bolts, I'm going to kill them.

If the caliper bolts that sheared off are attached to the caliper guide pins, which are floating and can move in and out slightly with the caliper when the brakes are applied, how does the caliper not fall out?

funny story; back in like 2010 or so...I told my gf at the time that I would change her brake pads. ended up shearing off those same bolts and she had to leave the car at my house for like a week.

using impact screw driver! I had learned my lesson, hope you did too! lol

I have replacement parts on their way, it's just annoying as shit because that's never happened to me before.

How the hell do people get leverage in that tight space to take off bolts torqued down to 100 something ft lbs?

I use a ratchet and tap the handle with a hammer to break or loosen bolt, then I'm very careful not to over torque it when installing it back

very easy to shear

I would just drill it out, that isn't bad, just time consuming

Have you ever used heat to heat up the bolt?

I've never used a torch on a vehicle.(just because I've always ended up breaking the bolt loose, one way or another.)
but I have used torches to break loose a bolt on non-car things!

Did the same on the 07 MDX while doing brakes, autozone had the replacement for $5 for a pair. Got the MDX up and running same day! Be glad that is not a bolt stuck in the caliper

Here's the autozone listing for $8.99:

this... you got off easy Gatr

I thought it was the actual caliper bolts themselves not the caliper guide bolts.
