brake caliper

brake caliper

i began to change my rotors today, but i couldn't get the caliper off. i've been in habor freight so much today that the store manager was going to write me up for not having on a name tag . does anyone know the socket size of the bolts that hold the caliper?

14mm for the caliper bolts and 17mm for the bracket bolts.
Getting the bolts that hold the rotor to the knuckle assembly is a whole 'nother story though...

i must have some cheap sockets. it seems that they don't quite grab. i know that the screws are killers. i was planning on just going ahead and drilling them out. it seems that the pb blaster doesn't help. thanks

Drill them out if they won't break loose. 3/8's drill bit will take the heads off.

They'll come off if you use a SIX point socket (in 1/2" drive) with a breaker bar. A piece of cheap PVC pipe from Home Depot works great as a poor man's breaker bar.
