Radar detector tap in

I have a 2014 MDX with the advanced package. Are there any instructions to install a radar detector that taps into the mirror or near that area? I am concerned about removing the plastic housing above the mirror. Any help is appreciated.

I tapped into the fuse box by the passenger side floor. You will have to play around to see which fuse is live with the key on.

in my '06 TL, I tapped near the foot/kick panel fuse box.
I used fuse #32 as that is our ACC.
read the fuse descriptions and apply the "add-a-fuse" according to the fuse map/key.

this option is WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY easier than finding and splicing a wire near the mirror.

remove the A-pillar and drop the wire down to the kick panel, then use an "add a fuse" to connect the ACC fuse

If I recall, there was a metal screw close by for easy installation near the fuse box. All you need is a tap a fuse ($5 autozone) and a little time to run the wires through A pillar etc.

there is no issue.

fish the wire down the A-pillar to the kick panel fuse box near your feet on the drivers side.
use an "add a fuse" to tap into the ACC fuse.

to remove the A-pillar, use a butter knife with a cloth wrapped around the blade to pop up the little square on the a-pillar.

then you can pull the a-pillar off, carefully starting from the top goiing towards the dash.

I used the plug behind the mirror. The plastic cover is split and removes easily with gentle prying. I installed the Hidden Mirror Cord from www.Safe-N-sound1.com
I tapped into the red+ and white- so the unit only powers when ignition is ON not ACC
It only took about 30 minutes to complete.

on the 2014 MDX, which fuse are people tapping into on the passenger side fuse box?

I have a Valentine One w/ the Hidden Display setup

The only circuits that sound ideal are 14 or 15 which are the Rear and Console Accessory Power Sockets, is that what you guys are using?

I have an Escort from 2008. I bet there are newer models but this may work great still.

Im wondering if there is a way to completely mute it.

Along these lines, is anyone using / recommending a detector mount (ie blendmount) but not ridiculously expensive?

Great links with the MirrorTap and SafeNSound - luckily Beltronics is essentially a phone cord with power, though the SafeNSound with mute button is a decent deal

I just went cordless with an Escort Passport. New batteries twice a year and I always carry spares in the console, Just In Case!
