protecting liftgate from hitting the garage door
When I park the vehicle (garage door still open) and open the liftgate (manually), it still hits the garage door above. I took some pool noodles, cut them in half, taped on some magnets (grabbed the neodymium ones from Amazon.com), and then slipped the pool noodle into an old sock (to put a layer of soft fabric around it). This allows me to place them on the metal panel of the garage door and it softens the impact when I open the power liftgate. Thought I would share in case anyone else might be interested.

I did the exact same thing, as my TSX wagon hits the garage door.
I didn't use a sock though. Where is the sock in the pic?

I didn't take a picture with the sock over it--they were ones with holes destined to be used as rags or what not. I would suggest using thin fabric as the strength of the magnet reduces with additional layers/thickness between the magnet and the surface it sticks to.

That's a good suggestion, but unfortunately wasn't an option for me. I have the multi-panel garage door which rolls up on wheels/rails. It was put into an older home which was not built for the larger/taller vehicles produced today.

You can always back the MDX rear-end first into the garage, then the tail gate will have lots of clearance.
