problems with keyless entry

Hi I have a 2014 MDX tech package. The keyless entry (both lock and unlock) seems to work only half the time. I don't think it's the battery in the remote key as I've tried it from 50 feet away and the other remote as well. Has anyone else experienced this problem and how to resolve? thx.

I had read a similar problem on one of the Acura boards. When buying my MDX I had questioned the salesguy and he said that the distance issue is a known issue for the MDX. I am wondering if there is anyone for whom the full specified remote operation distance works on the MDX?

Try touching the top of the key fob under your chin. That should increase the effective distance, because the key fob is using your body as the bigger antenna.

Had the same issue, though at a lower frequency (~10-15% of the time the remote wouldn't allow me to use the door handle to unlock the remove). Still annoying though. Took it into the dealership and they couldn't reproduce the issue. After pulling codes from the remote though the remote has been working more consistently

What is this "pulling codes" are you talking about? Can you elaborate?

Mine works 90% of the time. I blame my cell phone though.

Pulling codes => the diagnostics the dealership did for the remote

So were there or were there not codes from then diagnostics? Did they actually do anything or just ran the diagnostics and it magically started to work better?

Yep. The tech mentioned they didn't find anything wrong, and to come back if it happens again, which IMO wasn't a great answer. However it has been working a lot more consistently

I agree with some about the cell phone in the pocket with the key fob. Sometimes I find the cell phone blocks the signal specially if the phone is in front of the key fob. When that happens, I just lift the fob in pocket maybe an inch above the phone and it works (unlocks the door when I touch the handle). Or, I take the fob out of my pocket... and it never happens when my cell is in a different pocket from the fob.

Not only cellphones will interfere with keyless entry key fobs, they will also interfere with garage door openers.

i have had similar issues but also when starting the car! i had to literally pull the key fob out of my pocket and put it next to the ignition button as it stated on the screen. I have had at least 5 cars with push button start and have never had this issue. usually it picks it up pretty well. has anyone else had this issue with starting the car? the car had 9 miles on it on thursday so i doubt the battery is dying.. but i guess its possible?

Try to change battery.

Just just MDXs, batteries can be lemons.
