Pass Side Mirror Doesn’t Return After Parking
Strange behavior from my 2014 Tech. Passenger side view mirror will go to “down and in” position when engaging reverse, and then it will stay there even when the transmission is moved out of reverse. If I hit my “memory” position, nothing. I have to drive it back to position. Then it repeats. I have re-saved my memory positions to no avail. Any ideas other than leaving mirror selector position in “neutral”? Thoughts from this extensive network of knowledgeable and interested members is very much appreciated.

Same thing happened to my 11 MDX. Is it making a groaning sound and clicks/ticks trying to move back? The mirror just needed to be popped off, cleaned, and re-lubricated. I just moved the mirror switch in the neutral position instead of fixing.

Thanks so much for your reply. This is different. I know the clicking and groaning sound you are referring to, my driver side was doing that. This is different. The mirror moves fine to the “look at curb” position, but does not return to “home” after I exit reverse. I have to manually drive it back to home. Also, pushing the memory button also doesn’t bring it back.

That was another reason why I put mine in the neutral position because it wouldn't return to home after tilting down. Same issue of pressing the memory seat button didn't work to put the side mirror back. I imagine Acura probably didn't change the mirror tilt mechanism all that much between models. I ended up replacing the side mirror on my 11 MDX because of me being a bone head backing out of the garage (hit the side mirror just right on the garage door frame and it crunched instead of folding back). Replaced the entire side mirror and back in business with auto tilt.

On our previous Acuras, they have replaced the mirror actuators to fix the problem. Sometimes, a weak battery could be the cause. But in case, by continuous hitting the memory button, the mirror eventually returned to the saved position, so this may not solve your problem.
