hi, I bought my 2015 MDX 2 month ago. Today, when I back my car, the left front door hit the wall and sagged.
Is it worth to use my car insurance?
If I pay the repair fee myself, how much do you think it takes?
Shop around at various body shops, quotes can vary immensely.
Some places might say you gotta repair the whole door, some more say you can pop it back out, sand it and reshape it. Hence the shopping around part.
Then figure out if the cost is something you want to take a hit on in one shot or pay through higher premiums. If you are a younger driver, expect the premium to go up a lot higher.
It's unfortunate you've got the huge dent right on that line. My guess is it will be really difficult to recreate a fresh looking crease. A good body shop will do a pretty good job, but it may look a little bit rounded upon closer inspection.
No amount of hammering/pulling/patching is gonna restore the dented door back to original form, and since you know the damage was there, it will be there forever.
It is best to buy a new door shell to replace that dented door.
