Lights off

I still cannot figure out how to turn off completely the head lights. Rotating the stalk to the Off position doesn’t do the trick.
help!

if on auto, you can rotate to off and switch will spring back to auto, but lights will go off. This works in Park

The default position of the light switch on the light-control stalk is AUTO.

You can only turn off the headlight when the tranny is in PARK.

When the engine is on and it's dark outside, you cannot turn the headlight off.

I wish there was an off for the LEDs because it blinds the military guards at the base entrance gates at night.

Turn off only in park is pretty bad.
It should at least allow off in Neutral. The best example is when the car is in the tunnel for a car wash. The engine is off and the headlights are on simply draining the battery.

if the engine is off, you can turn headlights off before you put it in neutral.

Having grown up in the military there are big signs entering some bases that say dim lights. Never thought about that one but I can see where guards at some bases would be annoyed that one did not dim the lights, and they might say something about it.

That said, the owner's manual on my 2015 says that if the lever is rotated for off the lights are supposed to go off whether the car is running or not. I'll have to check that next time I am in it at night.

Interior and Exterior Lights
Operate interior and exterior lights when the vehicle is on or off.
Exterior Lights
Rotate the switch on the headlight lever to operate the exterior lights. Push the lever
forward to turn on the high beams. Return the lever to its original position for low beams.
OFF All exterior lights are off.

The solution to this is to turn the light switch to the 1st position after "auto", that's your parking lights. It will turn off your headlights even at night, and leave you with just your parking lights, tail lights, and license plate lights on.

Oops, I didn't realize this is the MDX thread, I have an RDX and that's the way the light switch works. It may be similar on the MDX, so the info may help you out.
Edited, again. Since I hate giving out bad information I went and looked up the owners manual for the 2016 MDX. It says that the switch position after auto will "Turn on exterior lights except headlights", so that should work for you.

Good luck.

The 10 LED headlight double as DRL when the the headlights are off. I can only turn off the headlights/DRL in Park only by moving the spring loaded headlight selector switch to off and/or engaging the emergency brake. I just go from 6 LED headlights to 10 LED DRL when I switch from AUTO to parking lights. The 10 DRL are not as intense as the 6 LED headlights; but, LEDs are still extremely bright when looking at them day or night. You would thing Acura would standardize the LED headlights, DRL type, and features/functions with all models?

Did you try reading the manual? If not, you should read the manual.
