I upgraded my iPhone 8 to 13.1.2. Unfortunately it is not playing nicely with my 2019 MDX. Connecting now to car Play is a hit or miss. Sometimes I need to restart the engine for the car to get into Car Play mode.
Before the upgrade it was rock solid and never gave me a problem.
Also, the interface changed a bit and now I see the dreaded Apple Maps (not removable) when you click the Apps menu.

 

I have a different reaction to the upgrade. I have an ‘18 Tech and an iPhone 8 and voice recognition allowing me to create-send or reply to text messages was zero. I came from an ‘18 Pilot that worked flawlessly.

After the upgrade, the screen graphics have changed and the CP voice recognition seems to be working. Was the problem the car or the phone? Both I guess.

 

I made the big mistake and upgraded my iPhone 6S+ to IOS 13.1.2 and it broke my Carplay also. It ran perfectly on IOS 12; but, drops its connection to apps and music constantly. I had to just connect my iPhone music with bluetooth streaming and use the Acura Navi because of its glitches every few minutes.

 

That sounds a lot worse than my symptoms!
Have you research if there is a hack to roll back iOS 13 to 12?

 

Not an iPhone expert. You can check to see if iTunes has a archive copy of your phone that might have IOS 12 and you can do a restore to a previous version. The other way is to find and download IOS 12 and wipe and reload the iPhone from scratch. Downside with that is having to setting up the phone all over again with apps, data, settings, photos, movies, and music. There are probably easier ways other than those two.

My experience with iPhones going back to the 3G days is Apple usually comes out with an IOS fix eventually that will correct the Carplay issue. Unfortunately, it is just a matter of time before another update breaks something else down the road.
