Antenna’s for passive entry/start

I’m having a lot of trouble now with my key FOB not being recognized. Even when I’m standing outside the door. Sometimes, it won’t even unlock the doors if I push the button in the FOB, but fortunately that happens less often. I have replaced the batteries in both FOBs, twice. No luck.

If I do get in, usually by finally using the FOB, it won’t start because it says the FOB is not there. Sometimes, it will start if I push the start button WITH the FOB, other times it won’t. A few days ago there was nothing I could do. Wouldn’t start for me at all. Had to lock the doors and walk away for a few minutes. When I came back it acted like nothing had ever happened.

There is no pattern I can discern. No location that is more problematic than others. In fact one of the worse times we were camping in the middle of nowhere. No interference from anything... except maybe trees?

The reason I’m asking about antennas is because I have done quite a bit of wiring inside the vehicle and want to make sure I haven’t inadvertently disconnected something. Last thing I want is for them to blame it on something I did. Does anyone have any experience troubleshooting this?

I’ve also read that it can be a sign of a bad battery in the vehicle. So I intend to have that looked into as well.

That’s what I’m trying to determine.

Went on the Honda Tech site again today to gather the information I needed. Thought I would post the results of my search here in case it helps someone else down the road.

There are actually 6 antennas, one in each of the four fenders to monitor the outside, and two inside to monitor front and rear interior.

I think the place to start will be to scan for any DTC’s that may have been logged. This could point me in the right direction. Then I will inspect the antennas and corresponding wiring for any areas that I know I have done my own wiring. If all that checks out, then I’ll book an appointment at the dealer to have them troubleshoot it further. But I have no interest in them just blaming my wiring work, if it has nothing to do with it.
