With a little planning and some labor on your end, you can knock the A1 or B1 service down a lot. I purchase my own syn oil from Walmart to take to the dealership, exchange my own cabin/engine filters, free lifetime balance/rotation and flat repair from discount tire, and have lifetime alignment from firestone. My dealership charges me $26 for an A1 or B1 service, plus a car wash afterwards, and they drop me off at work and pick me up when my vehicle is ready. Same price and service for the TSX, RDX, or MDX.
If it wasn't necessary it wouldn't be part of the standard maintenance program. From your post I can infer you have an inclination towards cutting corners on maintenance but its important to follow manufacturers recommendation on maintenance and fluid types. Honda/Acura have numerous rear differential fluid options so it's important to check the manual for the specific fluid type you need or let the dealer do it.
