I really like the car but I have been experiencing rough shifting in traffic where I have to constantly take my foot off the gas without actually braking. Sometimes the transmission lurches, makes a sound. This happens when I take my foot off the gas and then I have to press the gas again. Maybe I am used to my crv 2016 CVT where the transmission is so smooth I never feel anything lol. Is this normal with the MDX? Car only has 1500 miles.

 

Im guessing your noticing transmission downshifts. Thats normal. But if you think there is a problem go back to your dealer and ask to test drive another car. Im sure they will do it for you.

 

My '19 SH-AWD Advance has the same transmission update/config as the '20, and I noticed only once that odd feel of a lurch/noise, but it was when I'd slowed to almost a stop and then gave it gas then stopped - it seemed to get confused at that moment. But otherwise driving in traffic has shown no issues such as you describe. My '19 was built in Dec '18 and has 1700 miles currently. Just a data point.

Just want to update this thread. I have no explanation but at 2k miles, my trasmission issues are gone. It is very smooth even when it is cold.
