2020 MDX foglight installation price

My Acura dealer wants $350.00 labor for the installation. I thought it was high so I called another Acura dealer and they quoted 3.5 hours at $187.00/hour! These both seem really high.

I just bought a 2019 MDX and my dealer charged $650 for the fog lights and this price included installation. Your quote seems very high.

If you feel its high, download and read the instructions. Toull see 4-5 houra time is not unreasonable.

I would agree the installation seems complex with bumper removal and all. However, the online Acura dealers online list an installation time less than an 1 hour. I agree that seems rather short but for a dealer doing this type of work day and out with the use of a car list the quoted times from the dealer do seem somewhat excessive.

Can you find an independent dealer to do it, or can you do it yourself?

to do it right is maybe 3 hours or more. Getting the stalk back in properly and the steering wheel trim pieces back properly can be a pita if you have big hands. I think I still have cuts and scars on my hands from it. That said, someone cutting corners can do it in a lot less but things won't be exactly like they were before. Also one has to route the wire on the passenger side and that requires a little time if you don't want it to chafe or rub on things over time. I did the install on my 2014 and my 2015.

Merlin - Do you notice a vast improvement in the lighting or is is it more of an appearance item? I’ve seen a few posts either way.

compared to some fog lights I have owned it is cosmetic because it doesn't light up the area ahead of the car much (for that fact nor do my Hella Micro DE on two other cars I own.. That said, fog lights are technically supposed to help let the guy coming towards you know you are there, so you would have to ask him/her.

Check local Honda dealers for an installation quote, probably lower. Many Honda/Acura accessories are the same or similar in process, and many techs move between the 2 brands. My heated steering wheel was installed at my local Honda dealer by a tech that had been an Acura tech for 4 years and had done tons of them. If you take your time and follow the instructions, you should be able to do it on your own. The steering wheel was the only thing I didn't want to tackle.

Thanks for all your replies. I decided to bit the bullet and have the Acura dealer install the lights. I like the look the foglight give to the front bumper. The light do add a little foreground lighting and that is a plus.

Fog lights on

Fog Lights off
