I've gotten gifts from Acura for the previous 4 Acuras I have owned, so I assumed that I would get something for buying an MDX.

The gifts I am talking about are the ones Acura sent me in the mail. The Acura keychains that I got at the time of my purchases are the ones with the blue leather insert.

From Oakland Acura the night of purchase I got an Acura coffee mug, collapsible/waterproof/attachable trash bag, and a cloth. whoop de doo.

Exactly! Gift is the wrong word here, it generally means something given to someone with nothing expected in return. Incentive or Inducement may be better nouns. They want you back but you are paying dearly for those baubles after all....
