2020 MDX, 1 week old, hinge rust?

Got a 2020 MDX last week and noticed both back doors were sort of creaking when opening. Checked the hinges and noticed this orange thing. Is this rust??

Most likely rail dust. Get a bottle of Iron-X and see if it comes off. What is the build date of the car? It is on the label on the door jamb

it says 08/19. I am also experiencing the steering wheel being very sensitive to bumps and wavy roads. Depending on the road, the steering wheel turns right or left. On straight roads, the car goes straight. Maybe a visit to the dealer is necessary ugh.

Are you in Sport mode?
Sport mode makes things like steering more reaponsive. Switch to comfort mode and see how it feels. A shot of dry lube on the hinges makes a world of difference.

Sad the dealer did not perform his PDI like he should have.

Unlikely that is actually rust then. But you may want to schedule a visit for the other issue and mention this as well.

What did you drive before? Every car has a different steering feel and some of the electronic nannies can affect that.

Are you using the LKAS, as this will draw you back and forth in the lane to keep you within?

Did you drive any other MDX's and notice a different road feel than the one you have? I can say that now on my second 3rd gen MDX that the tires make a big difference in the way the vehicle tracks, especially with road crowns and when you get impurities in the roads. My '17 was a SH-AWD Tech with factory continentals and while not a great tire, it was pretty true in terms of tracking on uneven pavement. My (current) '19 is a SH-AWD Advance with the wider factory Michelins, and this vehicle is much more sensitive to road imperfections, including the road crown impacts. I actually had the alignment checked on my '19 to be sure (toe was slightly off but not much) just to be sure it was OK - and when I had a loaner '19 SH-AWD Advance it behaved the same way - so that told me the (for me anyway) it was the tire feel. You get used to it. But comparing with other MDX's is a sure way to make sure it's not YOUR car vs the MDX line in general....

Thanks for all the input - Honda is replacing it!

Just wanted thank you all for the input. After I filed a claim with corporate, I also contacted the national center for dispute resolution (ncds.org). That moved things along. Just received notice that the arbitrator awarded replacement (I preferred that over buy back so I don’t find myself paying more for the same car due to demand). Thanks again. I should also mention, Honda was great to work with too.
