...upgrading?
You are right. For some..its probably not enough to upgrade just yet.
I just bought a black on black '17 and just finished installing the running boards, roof bars, bumper protect...oh and fog lights and I couldnt be happier with the result.
Seems like this new A-Spec option is more cosmetic "sporty" upgrades, but I actually love the luxury look my current MDX has. I like the fact that I can tget it dirty and take it to soccer with the kids and also out with the wifey on a nice elegant date.
If there is one thing I would probably look into is the A-spec black rims. They look pretty nice.
Overall...extremely happy with the direction Acura is heading. Thumbs up. Seems like Acura finally has an identity they want to achieve.

I agree that Acura finally realized what's the best for the brand by the new design, intro of A-SPEC and now Type S.....I think Acura will be a complete different brand by 2020!!!

Can't wait for the specs on the MDX A-Spec. It would be sweet if they included the electronic damper system like on the sh-sh-awd and sport+ mode also.

On other models, A-Spec is just an appearance package... The turbo V6 would most likely be the Type S model that they said would make a comeback, in the future.

The old A-Spec for TSX, TL and RL was appearance package and lowered suspension with stiffer spring rates. My 06 TSX with A-Spec is still going strong with zero issues with a little under 150,000 miles on her. I'm fine with no engine upgrades; but, I would like an improvement in handling if possible.

Nom-nom-nom!!!
Will the price point for the ASPEC MDX be similar to the TLX? In between the Advance and Tech Packages? I'd like to get in one of these, but pricing is likely $54k and up.

Looks like the ILX ASpec doesn't have any external changes.

I got to see it in person at the NYIAS this weekend...Unfortunately it was locked so I couldn't get inside. All of the A-Specs had a lot of activity around them compared to other manufacturers.

Looks like we might not be able to add a hitch for those with a bike rack or cargo carrier.

1. This is a pre-production model, so the bumper may not have all the final cutouts that the production one will have.
2. Even the existing 3rd gen MDX requires a new "lower-middle" piece on the bumper when installing the hitch. Nothing prevents Acura from releasing a panel for the A-Spec bumper.

I think the black-out treatment looks good, but not for me. And that carbon fiber trim is kinda lame. I think it is a smart way to give the consumer more choices as I'm sure some people don't like the chrome accents and wood trim inside. I like those wheels, and the exhaust. I am not a fan of the exhaust through the chrome bumper openings. It is something else I am going to have to keep clean.

I don't see why not?

After seeing the new Aspec kinda wish I waited.....loving the larger exposed dual exhaust tips of the new aspec and the red seats with suede.

The OEM hitch has a much more streamlined fit -- which requires a new "lower-moddle" panel. The panel is included with the OEM hitch. That is why there are different part #'s depending on what year you have:
2014-2016 Hitch: 08L92-TZ5-202
207-2018 Hitch: 08L92-TZ5-2A0

What the A-Spec needs more than eye-candy kit, really nice leather* seats (*seating surfaces only) and darker plastic trim .... is the 3.6L gasoline engine paired with the Sport Hybrid 3-motor all wheel drive. Now that would get me out of my 201O AWD Tech into a new MDX in a HTFU hurry.
