2014 MDX screen changes day/night mode

Hello all! The NAV/radio screen of my 2014 MDX suddenly switches between day and night mode when it is dark. During the day, there is no problem, the screen stays bright (day mode). When it gets dark, say I am in the garage, the screen goes back and forth between day mode and night mode. I have tried to adjust light sensitivity, but it did not help.
The dealer said the light sensor is good. So they need to replace the entire NAV/Radio unit, which costs $1400.
Anyone knows what could cause this issue?

If the sensor has been checked and is verified as good, then the head unit is probably the culprit. Assume the dealer attempted hard reboot of the head unit before determining the unit needed replacing?

Do you mean reset the infotainment system to the factory default? or something else? I don't think they reset the system. Thanks.

Talking about a reboot of the system. Most systems have a way to reboot. You should be able to run a Google/Bing/Safari search to figure out how to do that on your model.

Go to more settings on the audio screen arrow down to last page and choose never under fading if I remember correctly. It's definitely in the more settings. You also have to adjust the brightness in the system settings.
