Snow tires for the Northeast?

Just picked up my sport wagon today. I live in CT. I drove a TL in the snow occasionally, and was fine. And up until now had a Subaru wagon.

Do you all put snows on?

Congratulations. What color did you get?

I live in the Boston area and recently picked up a set of Pirelli Winter Sottozero Serie II's from TireRack. Just had them put on my wagon this past Monday. So far I am pleased with the dry pavement performance. No snow yet, so I cannot comment on how well they perform in the white stuff.

I have had dedicated Bridgestone Blizzaks for years on both of my TLs.

Thanks for the congrats. I got Forged Silver Metallic. It's a lot darker than the pictures make it. I love it, but wish it had a light interior.

I hadn't thought about the added expense (after just plunking down a fortune on the car) of four tires and wheels. Big OUCH!

I hope others will post brands they've been happy with.

i have blizzaks that i have not had a chance to use yet.

in addition to 4 tires and wheels you'll also need 4 tpms unless you don't care about the error it'll show and the loss in ability to turn off vsa cuz of that error.

You could check out TireRack.com. I believe they'll give you an option to add tpms sensors to your wheel and winter tire order.

The guy who serviced my TL got me replacement tires that seemed fine. I'm sure that they aren't discounted. Is Tire Rack a discounter or do people buy from them because they offer a huge selection?

i forget the exact price but i think it was something like 100-125 for one tpms. at least the exact model number of the one for the tsx. but people have been able to get the old rdx tpms and they worked for our cars.

tirerack and discounttiredirect are two websites which offer good prices for all sorts of tires. sometimes there's rebates for certain tires at certain times of the year.

They will fit... However, the TPMS sensor will probably not work as our TSX use a different system than the CRV.

Thanks. I have a set of eBay on the 19s so maybe I will get another set of eBay for these. I have some plastic dip for them too.or might even just paint them black.

Rob, just to be clear, the RIMs will fit (I had them on my TSX for winter use) but the tire will definitely not fit, they are too high....

I have firestone winterforce on my 09 and this thing is a beast in the snow. They handle pretty well on dry pavement too.

make sure if you buy use snow tires they have 7/32 or more. The less thread they have the crappier they are. They usually come 11/32 new.
