There are many threads discussing the performance and quality of the different lowering kits available for our car. Just look through this "Tires wheels and suspension" section and it will help you make your decision.

HONESTLY though, even after reading all that its still going to come down to personal preference; are you going to slam your car and disregard ride comfort or lower it just a bit and preserve the ride quality. Who are we to tell you that 20's are too big. There are some people who want 22's on our cars and some people opt for 17's or 18's. Its up to you and the look you want to achieve.

Me personally, I think 19's are just the right size.

the bigger the diameter (with 20" being the reasonable max size), the less comfortable as well as better looking. 18" will ride pretty smooth but won't look as aggressive and modded as 19". So the consensus is that 19" is juust right, like mama bear. 245/35/19 tires also ride fairly nice inside the spectrum of 19" diameter wheels.

Higher than stock spring rate lowering springs will overwork the struts ability to dampen the oscillations of the spring, leading to premature wear.

So...a stock spring/strut may last 50-60k miles, a lowering spring/stock strut may last ~35k miles or so.

Koni doesn't offer a strut yet, so my springs are loafing in the garage.

HD's right ... shorter springs (or stock length springs with a higher rate) will have completely the wrong characteristics for the stock damper to deal with and will therefore destroy the handling & ride comfort.

Given that Honda spent a fortune in determining the spring/damper relationship on the TSX, it makes sense to change springs & dampers together. Use a propreitory spring & damper kit which has been designed specifically for the car

I don't think 20's are too big at all. I thought it was gonna be big, but to get a similar rolling diameter to stock you're going to need thicker profile wheels on the 20's as opposed to on the CL9.

20x8.5 with 245/35/20 tyres on the above. Looks pretty decent but the rear could use more dish. Still needs a kit and lowering (waiting to be installed) but overall i'm happy with how 20's look.

Your car looks good, a lot of this stuff is personal preference & the area of the...world one lives in and the roads in that area & all that.

It's funny how 20's on a 2009 or 2010 are acceptable, yet 10 years ago, (because we weren't accustomed to it) made the car look like a cartoon.

^+1 kimnkk- Your cars looks great with 20's.
In the old days, only a Camaro IROC-Z can have 16"- 17" rims, now they put them on a Kia Rondo.

Cheers guys yeah its crazy nowadays, i remember even 6-7 years ago 20" looked too big on most cars but now cars are coming out with bigger wheels arches or larger rolling diamaters which make 20" look pretty tame. I think next step is 22" for the ridiculous look on the CU2

For me 20" on TSX CU2 looks ricey. 19" looks the cleanest.

hmm, so if i were to get 19s (which i am still saving up! :p) you would recommand 245/35/19 for tires?

Hey HHCZ, I see you are here too! I know you are set on 19's but have you checked on the new RonJon Rev GT-M yet? Only 18" and a 32mm offset but they go all the way to the edge like you wanted. I think the red strip would be hot on my Grigio. I worry about the 32mm offset though. Might have to stick with 225's to pull it off.

lol, the whole family is here

I don't like Rev GT-M. I like Harrows, I am waiting until RonJon post any photo of them on TSX.

Those are some nice rims. I just got my car on new years eve day and I want to put some 19" or 20" rims on as soon as the Chicago winter dies down. My question is do I have to lower the car if I'm getting bigger rims or can I leave it alone. I mean would it look funny?

most people lower it so it would look better..if you dont want too mcuh lowering because u are afraid of scraping or dont want to back up in every parking space..i suggest a more conservative drop. about 1" thats what im thinking of, with 19" rims. IMO thats the perfect size

20's should be fine. It's a lot easier to get rid of wheel gap when lowering on 20's. Here's a pic of 20's on my accord
