Electronic Power Steering Failure

Electronic Power Steering Failure
2012 TSX just hit 70k and I go to turn on the car to discover that the steering wheel failed. ESP code. Got it towed to dealer, they quoted me at $1500 for parts / labor. Not covered by CPO? Googled the problem and seemed to be more common than I thought. How is this not covered and how can I haggle a bit with this price?

Well I lucked out in this situation big time...
I was very polite when talking to the service person, but asked him if he could help me out as $1500 is very expensive for something that went wrong that could have killed me if driving fast enough. He worked his magic and got me a 90/10 pay split (90 Acura / Me 10) which I gladly accepted.
Huge weight lifted off my shoulders!

EPS control module failure
Just turned 60,000 on my 2013 TSX Sport wagon and the power steering control module failed. Had it towed to dealer and they contacted Acura for some relief on the $1,452 repair cost. No luck at all as they stated it was out of warranty. Shame on Acura for not standing behind their product. Who would expect a complete lack of steering on a 5 year old car?

I'm stuck in the same situation now. No help from Acura whatsoever. Honestly thought better of Acura. Called off my purchase of a new Acura until dealer figures this out. I have another car so I'm content to wait it out.
