2nd Gen -- BUG Thread

If you guys with the 2nd Gen 09 TSX are experiencing any issues, please post here, so all the other owners can check into the issue, and this will help us see if multiple people are experiencing the same things.

Thanks!

well, I just started experiencing some very strong engine vibrations at idle, and they haven't cleared up after 100miles and a new tank of gas. I'll probably be paying a visit to my dealer in a few days...

My Points of Interest (POIs) in the Navigation System are severely lacking. It doesn't seem to find much. Anything it doesn't find in the D.C. area (regardless of how long it's been established), I have to use my roommate's TomTom to find. And his almost always has whatever the Acura is missing.

I just had a new bug yesterday but gone today....went to the store yesterday and no rearview camera.....made several stops, several reverse moves no camera.....went out today no problem. I hope this isn't one of those bugs that only happens once in awhile you can never get those fixed.

i think Honda angles the left headlight slightly downward to reduce headlight glare for drivers coming towards you on the left side of the road. again, i doubt it does much, but they do it anyway. i've had 3 Hondas with HIDs and they all did that (pull up to a building and look at the distribution of light....you'll probably see where left and right headlights intersect)

I think you're right, my TL does this as well.

Interesting, I thought it was just the road I was on when I noticed that.

i was driving down the road today, and for no reason at all i got 4 consecutive beeps from my car. the beep is most likely the same beep you'd hear when your fuel is low or something. nothing on the MID showed anything.. no indication anywhere of a problem. and the drive was uneventful after that.

So I took it to a dealer closer to where I live, and they claimed nothing was wrong with it. Since then, the vibrations have gotten even stronger, gas mileage is 19.5 in mixed driving, and if I walk around to the rear of the car I can hear the muffler vibrating against the body of the car with a strong buzzing noise.

The flow out of the exhaust is also highly irregular, I feel several strung puffs rather than anything resembling smooth flow.

Looks like I'm going to have to take it back to the dealer I purchased it from

By design, IIRC. There have been discussions in the 1GEN forum (not that anyone buying a 2GEN is expected to review all the 1GEN discussions).

Check your manual (might be easier with the online PDF version), 4 rapid beeps (which is Morse code for "H" btw) is the warning sound for "door open, key still in ignition." Might be for other conditions. Doesn't sound like a warning sound I'd want to hear while driving at speed....

DaveDiego...make sure you keep us updated, this is not re-assuring. I just hope they haven't tinkered with the engine too much to take its reliability factor out of the equation! That was one thing I liked about them keeping the same engine....so reliable!

The only bug I've seen is that my USB port is a little sensitive. If I pick up the iPod, it disconnects from the car's system even though it's still plugged in. If I unplug it and then plug it back in it's fine. It never disconnects when it's bouncing around in there during driving though, so I don't worry about it too much.

I'm pretty sure all manufacturers do this.

Problems

Well my car is already starting to have problems @ 1,020 miles so I took it to the dealer on Thursday and turns out I won't get it back till Monday. Apparently it takes awhile to get the parts.

1) The steering alignment is off and the car wants to go left. So the dealer re-aligned the car.
2) The top right roof weather/drip moulding popped off and needs to be replaced. Waiting for the part.
3) The center console storage bin door (the one next to power plug) doesn't open up all the way when pressed and will be replaced.
4) The trunk makes a creaking sound when opening.

Oh well, they gave me a loaner car to use while I wait, a Glacier Blue '09 TSX.

I just experienced the same thing today. Upon next engine start, the rearview camera works again. Will keep an eye on this. Anyone else?

Here's my list of small issues so far:
Cup holder and gas door stick closed when you try to open them. Takes a couple tries to get either one opened, usually.
A message came up on my MID all day yesterday telling me to tighten the gas cap. I got out and checked and made sure it clicked a few times. The message went away today.
The engine has a bit of a rattling sound on light acceleration. It's not a consistent rattle, kind of off and on. Annoying, but I'm not sure what it is. I have just over 1000 miles on the car now and it's done it since new, I was hoping it would go away by now but I might have the dealer look at it. I've only gone WOT in the car twice, neither time from a stop, and I did do a proper break-in so I'm not sure if it's normal for this engine to have that rattle or what.

That's all I've noticed though.

I now have 2000 miles on mine and so far no engine noise like some have mentioned. I think most of mine ar just minor aches and pains of a new car. Besides the rear camera going out intermittently I have a couple of seat problems

The plastic frame on the front of the passenger seat has come loose.
The driver seat cusion can be lifted right up by the console
The retarded outside gas door doesn't always want to open, I can hardly wait for the winter when it gets covered with ice
Today while I was talking on my phone it just hung up and I haven't been able to get the bluetooth connection since, but that may very well be a phone issue. I have a Palm Treo 700WX from Sprint and I have had phone issues ever since I purchased it.

I have had phone issues. If I am on the phone and I start the car, the phone locks up and has to reboot. I did not have this problem with my 04 or 07 TLs. I have a blackberry pearl with Verizon service.

Have about 2500 miles on mine, and so far ive been pretty diligent in documenting my issues on the forum, but for the sake of being concise, i'll reiterate them here:

1. leather came undone from the side of the driver's seat, had to get dealership to replace.
2. got 4 consecutive beeps for no reason while driving down the road one day. have no idea.
3. bluetooth has stopped working a couple times. seems a little touchy. one time i tried to make a phone call, and it got to calling and locked up. couldn't cancel or continue or anything.. just sat there. eventually had to turn off the car and open the driver's door to disconnect it. it's worked since.
4. got piercing loud feedback instead of the standard ring out of car speakers when i was getting a call one time. afterward, initially sounded like speakers were blown, but speakers sounded better, if not completely fine after turning car off, then back on. by the way, using a compatible lg chocolate as listed on acura's site.
5. drunk kid at a dave matthews concert punched my car last night, left a few dents. im posting my question on this in a separate thread. that one's not really the car's fault.
6. freakin' push-open gas tank door is baaaaaad. not easy to operate.
7. my clutch clicks when i push it in. it's very annoying. just on single click every time i push it in, whether moving or at a stop.
7. rattles. already im getting rattles out of my sunroof, and oddly enough out of the inside handle above the driver's window. also some intermittent rattles coming from the back of the car, but haven't been able to locate them yet. is there anything the dealer can do about this?

seems like quite a bit has gone wrong so far, actually. sounds like i might not be the only one. i traded my 98 civic for this, and aside from some rattles, the car never gave me an ounce of trouble. but im not forgetting that it has 1/25 of the technology of the tsx. surprisingly, have not witnessed this rear-view camera problem, yet.

Lol! Well I hope it wasn't the 1st one made but it does have problems. The loaner car seemed better built but then it only have 180 miles on it... so I'll bug the dealer till it's all fixed. From reading the other posts looks like it Acura need to address some things for the next model year.

Can't wait to get "my" TSX back!

For those not reading the TSB thread, there is a TSB out on the '09 fuel filler door . One for the beverage holder lid , too.
