Interior smd led conversion project (not led bulbs)

Here is the start to my led conversion project. Im not changing bulbs, im soldering leds that are super tiny. There is another member on here that posted something similar and it inspired me to do it. This project is going to be slow in the making because I dont have much free time so bare with me. So here we go.

I started with something small. Here is the memory seat buttons. I will be changing out only the low lite leds that light up the "1" "2" and "SET". These are 3014 smd leds. Now i order the leds from china and start soldering once I get them. No crazy color combo here, just going from white to red to match my special edition red.

These leds actually light up blue without that yellowish cover and they light up white with them on. So if you want blue leds, just remove the covers! Unfortunately im doing all red.

I got the leds in and turns out that i got the wrong ones. I did manage to solder in one just to see how it looks. The 3014 led is a bit longer then the stock led. Im having a hard time finding what size the stock leds are.

Here is what it looks like with the bottom led changed to red, the "2" is with that yellowish cover removed(looks bluer in person), and the "1" is just stock.

Just to give you an idea how small these leds are.

Well arm yourself with some magnifying glasses/head gear and some "helping hands". I had to melt the solder and slightly lift that end with a small exacto knife. Its can be hard but practice makes perfect. Also your soldering iron should have a very fine point.

I was going to do this for my steering wheel lights. After I took apart most of the components I realized it was going to be pretty difficult and gave up.
