footwell lights

just wondering whether it is possible to make the footwell lights in the 09/10 tsx brighter by changing the bulb? the footwell light is so dim that it seems like there isnt even a light there!

1. I believe the footwell light is LED, so there is really no point. However, I'm sure you can buy 2 strips of LED lights and soldering the wires so it turns on either when you want it to or when the oem footwell lights are on.
2. The light dims as your gauges, if you turn the brightness up on the gauges, the footwell light also gets brighter.

I don't believe so. You might try your luck with google or wiki though. It is not a very difficult process.

Contact Marcus at HeelToe and see if he can order the blue or red ambient light kit from Europe or Japan for you. (It's a single LED light in the each side of centre map console and 3 LED lights mounted on the back of the armrest for the rear). My kids loves the blue lights.

Here's a pic from the Honda brochure.

wow that looks pretty nice! but will there be any lights that are simply plug and play that would make the footwell light brighter?

Those LED strips like KB1Spec posted would be your best bet. They are inexpensive, just splice the wiring with the factory LED.

Yes the one I have just splice in your existing footwell lights and tap it in. Very simple to do. It also comes with an on/off switch. And it is not too bright or too dim. It's in between. It will not causes any distractions.

but you cant turn off the footwell light if you turn your head light on right? So is it ok to drive @ night with a bright led on all the time? :S

In our Accord Euro, the footwell light come as factory standard (really dark blue, hard to notice) that will be on when you turn on the headlight. Then you can buy an accessories with a switch to turn on/off...

The LED strip I have on my car are not too bright or too dim. The kit I have also comes with an on/off switch. But to me it is not necessary to add a switch since its is not too bright to cause any obstruction.

cool! I think the reason that we need switch here is because its illegal to have any light on while driving (except from the console)

Having light inside the car is legal where it doesn't cause any obstruction. Anything brighter can be dangerous.

There is an easy way to make them brighter. If you notice, the plastic holders that the LEDs sit in purposefully obstruct the light to make it dimmer. All I did was remove the LED bulbs from the plastic holders, drill a hole directly in the center of each holder, re-insert LEDs. The LED is now unobstructed and light much brighter but still not too bright.

Unfortunately I don't have a before pic.

I do remember it being a bit difficult to remove. Trying to remember if there was a trick to it.

It is only on when I have either the parking light on or the headlight. As for the 2nd gen you can tap on any accessory light when you have either the parking light or headlamp on. It will not draw a lot of power since it is using LED.

My doors and dome lights are white. My under dash on the front and rear seats are blue. Since the OEM LED are blue.
