We have results:

Our initial Flow Simulations are showing 100% filtration of oil particles greater than 8 microns and over 75% filtration of oil particles at 1 micron. The average oil particle size introduced by blowby is around 20 microns but CAN range from 1 micron to 30 microns. Just for reference a human hair is 17 microns thick.

Pressure drop is basically non existent.. measuring in at ~130pa. That is around .02 psi drop! Pretty legit.

I can tell you that we are working hard to get a good product out there. You can expect features like:

Oil viewing sight
Replaceable Filters
1/2" and 3/8" Barbed Fittings for inlets/outlets. (Possibly swivel heads)
Easy dis-assembly for cleaning (meaning the bottom portion will disassemble while still attached to your hoses so that you can dump and reassemble quickly.

Are there any features you guys specifically would like to see within the product? I'll try my best to incorporate any ideas you have.

Features I want:
In my engine bay today.
Mount nicely in my engine bay.

There is a replaceable filter, do you have a drain on the bottom that we could attach a hose to, that we could empty the catch can with minimal mess creation? Maybe be able to mount it so I can drain it even easier than changing my oil? You get the idea?

Yeah the removable bottom was going to be our main way to empty the can, but we have not eliminated the drain plug option.

Yeah, I am not sure about the removable bottom. I wouldn't mind it for inspection maybe, but for just draining, I don't want oil sloshing all over the place.

A buddy with an STI that is built up, he had an old messy catch can, and replaced it with one with a drain, and he was really happy with it. It just has a little valve on it that he turns when he is ready to drain, and that's it.

I would like a petcock like this in the bottom to drain, removing it to drain would be big reason for people to not buy it IMO, some of these are mounted in a really tight space, also it will need more than one inlet one for oil pan vent and one for valve cover vent, it could be as simple as this mopar one for $150 or super cool looking and $350

I agree that a drain is a very convenient option to have, and we have designed all of our prototypes with this option thus far. Just haven't come to a finalized design. Gotta look at overall performance, manufacturing cost, and ease of use. There is always a trade off unfortunately, but I'm happy to hear feedback so we can make the best product for everyone.

I think you guys can expect a drain plug

Also.. Our original project was to cater to the LS series engines but I'm going to push for mounting brackets that will fit our Honda's too. Even if it means putting in some of my personal time to design these brackets.

Now that we have successfully gone completely off topic from this original thread I would like if you (Utah) or Optimus would send me some pics of where your current cans are setup/ places you would like the can to be mounted. PM is fine.. or if you want to email me, my email is ssjoeboe9@knights.ucf.edu

My car is about to go to my mechanic to begin the surgery. I'll ask for the exact spot they would like to mount my current one, and then that should give us an idea...

I didn't see the TSX listed on his website as one of the applications. Do we just pick the 12-13 Civic Si?

Thanks for posting this Scott!

I don't have "TSX" listed as I do not have a TSX local to me to get measurements on what brackets I need to make for the front HX (intercooler looking type thing that goes behind your front bumper). The CT-e fitment is universal across all platforms (TSX, 8th gen, 9th gen, RSX even) for everything that goes under the hood/blower, but the front HX has model specific brackets. You can either make a set of mine fit (by modifying them) or just make a set of your own (or give me measurements and I can make them).

I want this in my life! After seeing and reading everything Utah went through boosting his ride (which don't get me wrong is amazing!), this sc setup is looking a lot more enticing thanks to vit and his innovations. Dunno if my bank account and frustrations could handle a custom turbo setup. Still debating which downpipe to run now that we have options with the skunk2 out but as soon as it's on it's off to etuning via vitviper and his k series expertise. I have been nothing but impressed with vit! Kudos to both you guys making our slow cars into super sleepers! *round of applause*

Vit I did not know you manufactured and sold custom parts that's incredible. I thought you were just the etune guy! Someone needs to give you cake! You give us all hope at the least
