RV6 I4 PCD/Downpipe for the K24Z3 08+ Accord and 09+ TSX
#641
I just received my Downpipe with High Flow Cat combo and plan on installing it on Saturday or Tuesday the latest. My setup also includes a Fujitsubo Legalis Catback with a CT Engineering CAI. So from what I was reading nobody ever has complained about the gains. Just that Rasp sound which I am yet to experience. Regardless I will update you on how it goes. As this thread has become pretty dormant and I have even tried facebook messenger to RV6 and they haven't responded.

Got it from Japan via Herbert Leung. I am in Melbourne, Australia by the way. So anyway going to get this installed tomorrow at Melbourne's OTR Motorsport. Unfortunately I might not be able to get photos of the install as they don't allow access into the workshop area due to Health and safety guidelines in our state. Bummer really.

After a bit of research it seems that downpipe really introduces a new rasp tone in the exhaust... I'm a bit scepticle to install the downpipe now.

That first YouTube video is with a stock exhaust and nothing else. Having said that If I get 15 to 20 percent increase in horsepower and add a tune then I will be happy. The rasp sound I will deal with later if it ends up being like that first youtube video.

The above is BTvideos car that has a similar setup as mine. He was commenting on here previously but not sure if at the time of the first video he had added the downpipe. I have been told that he has added or welded the Magnaflow Cat exhaust to it. Judging by the second vid the rasp note is not noticeable in cabin. So the only thing different in my setup is
I have taken RV6's High flow cat instead of the Magnaflow one as I bought it in a package. So I am really hoping that this setup will eliminate any rasp note. Otherwise I will have to just live with it as I don't intend on anyone cutting up the legalis R to weld anything to it. Anyway should find out by tomorrow night.

Just got mine installed. I can't notice any rasp with this installed on the Legalis R catback. Even if it is there it is really not noticeable. The you tube video uploaded from my phone doesn't do it justice. Tho there is an increase in sound of the exhaust that's for sure. I have also noticed considerable amount of Power and torque which will only get enhanced when I get it tuned. Overall all I am happy with it. I need to go for a decent drive. Also I have not yet had it throw a CEL. Only time will tell tho.

Ok Washed the car and took it out for a drive and got the CEL after giving it a bit of gas. So spoke too soon. Reset the ECU and will drive again cleared it. I will monitor it. This was expected but have to wait till my Hondata Flashpro comes to really deal with it once and for all. Overall the gains are worth it but its really loud and will take some time getting used to it.
#652
Ok so I am guessing that the blokes who installed the downpipe hadn't done the ECU reset after the install otherwise I would have had to put in the code for the radio and it looks like my battery terminals hadn't even been touched. Anyway gave the car absolute hell up in the mountain side and some decent roads both on Auto and Manual/Paddle Shift mode. All I can say is it sure is one exhilarating drive and no CEL - touch wood.

The reason why I'm asking is because I sold my flashpro. I decided it wasn't worth getting a tune and doing the PCD and whatever else on this car, but the flexpipe portion of my stock precat is starting to come apart. My thought is that I can replace it with either the stock pipe or the rv6 pipe for roughly the same cost, but if the PCD works fine with the stock tune then I would go that route for the added power.

Not sure what you mean by kink? These are dyno graphs on RV6's website comparing, stock + intake, PCD + intake, and PCD + intake + tune.

Where in Chicago are you? I've seen a white TSX running around Schaumburg, always wondered who it was.
#665
Nah, just a shop, but I think they'll let you pick up orders from their location. I know they've been looking to relocate to a bigger shop for awhile. They had something lined up, but it fell through.

Not much love from anyone on the TSX. The TSX exited the stage like 4 years ago. From the looks of RV6's FB and IG, they're probably concentrating on the Civic Type R, 10th gen Civics, and 10th gen Accords. That's where the market and volume is right now. I guess you got to strike while the iron is hot...

I also noticed that the Utraquiet Vibrant everyone is talking about has three different sizes. Since stock piping is 2.25", I'm assuming Vibrant p/n 1140 is the one I want, correct?
#672
So I've read through all 670 posts in this thread and can't seem to determine WHERE the resonator should be installed along the exhaust, or if the order even matters. Should it be between the second CAT and the stock resonator, or between the stock resonator and the mufflers?

I got the Vibrant resonator for mine 2weeks ago. I got the 2.25”. Perfect fit. I had mine installed before the OEM resonator. Amazing difference in sound. A bit deeper tone, took the rasp away from the down pipe and test pipe, with no loss in power!

I have and read and heard of horror stories of the Skunk2 Alpha Series header.......from bad welds and coming apart to constant CEL issues.....the reason there are weld issues in all areas of that header is because it eliminates the flex pipe.....not worth the headache......RV6 all the way!!!
