I hadn't seen this from MV-tuning yet! This is actually really cool though since we don't have to drill.

We should message him and ask when he will have these at his USA facility so we don't have to pay 100% of the price for shipping lol

I am also curious how this strut sits when the hood is closed. It would suck to spend that kind of cash and have it hitting my supercharger :/

Im speaking with MVtuning right now. Let's see what happens. This is a good option since we don't have drill/weld anything on our body.

Doesn't the V6 already have the dual hood struts?

I think so. So, I think yes, this is only for the I4.

That is correct, all V6's have factory installed hood dampener/lifts. I've been searching high and low and stumbled upon this in my weekly ebay wagon parts hunt. Hopefully we can possible get a GB, that shipping price is hard to stomach, lol.

how often do you open your hood and why do you want dampeners?

Working on it, he responded twice on ebay before it was nearly midnight russia time.

I think we are going to communicate further on fb or instagram. Ill talk to him about interest of these hood struts being shipped from USA (he has a warehouse here now just for that reason, to reach out to more people in USA with stomach-able shipping costs)

3 years ago I paid for eyelids that are about $25-- end price after shipping was nearly $85 lol

Then I still had to paint them haha-- but it was worth it, no one really has them here!

Often

-I change my own oil
-I frequently check my oil levels due to SC application
-I occasionally check my aftercooler coolant
-I frequently go to car meets and leave my hood open

Okay so I get the application and possibly it being cool due to being a nice addition/differentiating factor.

So pay to play what's a hundred bucks for that cool factor?!

It's not even that cool lol It's just useful.. It's the only option (I have seen) that doesn't require any drilling/welding to the frame.

It's also more efficient.

Pop hood, unlatch, raise. Done
vs.
Pop hood, unlatch, raise, hold with one hand, release hood stick with other hand, put in place. Done.

And then, what if you only have one arm? Or maybe you have a friend with one arm and she borrows your car and needs to check the oil. It'd be difficult.

You just don't know because you already have hood dampeners. You elitist, entitled, MF.

Alright guys, Ayrat from MV-Tuning is hooking me up. I'll give a full review of the hood strut here, my build thread and probably fb/insta if anyone follows.

Lets hope it fits with my supercahrger

Dude, did yours fall inside the hood too? That happened to me too. lol had to use a coat hanger to push is down to the hinge and used a handy grabber tool through the other hood prop location. Not my proudest moment.

Now I'm *really* curious. I'm going to need some pictures of you you guys are screwing up a simple bolt on gas strut. You know... for science (and ridicule).

Oh, and dhuynh, if you're in town, you should come out the the meet on the 26th. Click mah sig for more infos.

If anyone is interested, I installed and took pics and a video.

The pictures I have yet to edit, but the video I could care less about. so here is a video of it in action.

There is this pain in the butt loop through bolt that goes through two existing holes under the hood, wait till I get home and finish editing photos and ill upload them.

Dude... I broke that loop! I first dropped it in the hood, and it was really difficult to fish it out.

Then I got everything put together, and I was tightening the bottom nut and I was not using much pressure at all, just a 1/4" ratchet.. and boom.. I sheared the threads off completely. I'm really lucky it didn't hit me in the eye or face, I wasn't wearing any type of protection.

Anyways.. Idk what to do now, that piece isn't exactly an easy piece to duplicate. MV Tuing hasn't answered me yet about it, so idk if Ill be able to get another one or not. I might have to end up fabricating something myself. -- so funny cause the whole point of this was the fact that no fabrication needed uhgg

When I create a install how to for this, I'm going to mention to separate the brackets from the strut to make it a lot easier. As you know there are no English instructions, sigh.

It's difficult because as you are trying to screw the nut in, it wants to fall back inside the hood.

Hopefully MV Tuning will be able to just send the loop piece
