I finally went custom on mine.

It is the only way to go for this platform.

@ptimusaccord. Can I ask what your setup is? I see alot of people going with the magnaflow universal mufflers but I was interested in doing a megan racing universal with the blue burnt tips.

Thanks

With universal mufflers your options are close not very limiting as long as the length works for you and the diameters match up. My personal preference isn't with universal shit though. Universal stuff is guaranteed to have zero amount of R&D specific for your car (especially the CU2 lol), so if this affects performance at all, it'll likely be in the wrong direction.

If you just want sound and appearance of the tips/muffler, then get something like what you mentioned.

If you want something of better quality, get a catback exhaust or even something completely custom. Unless you're boosted or you're making almost 300 HP N/A (good luck with that on our cars), performance gains of a cat back exhaust will be negligible. For performance, start with a PCD, then maybe the HFC for the secondary cat, intake if you tune, etc.

The only point of doing the exhaust on NA would be just for sound I think...

Mine I went with a 3" pipe from the cat back. I used a 18" long resonator and a flowmaster series 40 muffler.

There were so many complaints against magnaflow, I figured I'd go a different direction.

The car before was silent, but now, my wife says it is 3X louder.

It does not get high and raspy, and when you WOT, the exhaust seems to just fade away.

The factory exhaust is tiny as ish. If you doubt it, I have one cut up in my basement, I can send you some pictures. The Y pipe especially, it's clearly tuned for as little sound as possible.

As mentioned after you put on the HFC, and start opening things up, you will see the car tends to not fall on it's face nearly as hard when shifting between gears.

Can you post some pics of your custom exhaust?

We should push megan to make one for our car, tsx gen1 has one and there is not that much difference.

Would be cheap too and better that ebay spec one.

Few emails to them so they see there is interest and we migh have alternative.

I would be fine with purchasing one from them if they made it. If only there was someone willing to make a cat-back system if like ten of us ordered it. That way they would have some $$$$ in the process and we would all be happy campers

In the near future.

Been spending money and time on the car still.

That, and I just replaced my roof, A/C and heater in my house.

So.... yeah, priorities.

Our cars don't accept headers. The K24Z3 has an integrated exhaust manifold.

You can look into getting the RV6 PCD/Downpipe; the next best thing. It's basically the first part of the exhaust from the engine that we can (easily) modify on our cars, which in its stock form contains a very limiting catalytic converter.

Sorry I meant megan racing mufflers that I posted above. Not headers. My mistake

Those megan mufflers are the exact same ones I have right now. They sound like magnaflows below 3500 rpm and it changes tone to a more high pitched sound.

Did you have any fitment issues? I found a good deal on a pair. I was thinking about have a shop make the rest of the piping to make it a cat-back system

These Megan's fit better then the magnaflows I had. It's easier for the shop to bend the pipes because theirs more room. U can make the tips stick out of the stock bumper aprox 1-1/4 inches However, if u decide to run a type s jdm rear lip off eBay the tip will not show

Stupid iPhone sound quality only records wind noise. Gotta have a friend record from outside -.-

Looks good despite being a bit hidden. Let us know when you have a proper sound clip! Do it in a parking garage or something so there wouldn't be much wind

Looks good! Im curious to know if you can get this to stick out at the same amount as the stock muffler tips were.

Also any HP/TQ numbers?

I'm getting tuned by VitViper ATM. Dont have any hp # yet, but the exhaust isn't the only thing I have on my car. I got rv6 pcd and an intake + the exhaust. On hondata"s tuned map that come with the flashpro I made 202hp 168tq on vits edyno don't know how accurate those #"s are.

Is that the Ultra Quiet Vibrant resonator you have there?

Yeh it is. If u plan on getting a rv6 pcd or skunk2 headers get another resonator because the vibrant alone still has rasp with the rv6 pcd. I plan on adding a obx or magnaflow resonator behind the vibrant one, and hopefully get rid of the rasp.

Thanks for the info :-).

I currently have a Vibrant 1793 resonator and Magnaflow 14829. I'm going to get the RV6 PCD + HFC installed next week and see how it goes.

Did you get rid of the OEM resonator? I thought the Vibrant as a second resonator kills all rasp produced by the RV6 PCD. At least, that's what many people said in the PCD thread.

I'm getting my PCD installed next Monday. I asked if it would make sense to just weld a second resonator at the same time they install the PCD, but they insisted I give it a try without one first, even though I told them like 99% of the 2G TSX guys is having problems with rasp. I'll probably go with the 12" long 2.5" Vibrant one after I give it a test. I'm pretty sure it's gonna annoy me as well.
