doing custom exhaust
Depending on what muffler(s) you plan on using.. If you plan on leaving the pre-cat and second cat alone then with most decent aftermarket mufflers it shouldn't be bad just deeper and louder. The factory cat-back is pretty free flowing already. Where you really start to get rasp is when you start taking out cats before the cat-back. If you want a cleaner sounding cat-back a resonator is a step towards the right direction and vibrant being a good choice of one. Just stay away from the cheap ebay mufflers a lot more r&d gets done on products coming from larger reputable companies so your bet is usually safer with those

4 inch should be fine on the exit I would think.
I agree though this would be perfect with a single pipe exhaust. Or even put this muffler in the middle and split out to two pipes going out the back.

Duuuuude if you go on their website they make all diff styles of the varex muffler.. There are a few perfect for Optimus' idea where it's 3" inlet and outlets where he could mount it where the resonator would sit.. I think 4 inch would be overkill lol.. Maybe if we had turbo diesel super duties
I think going from 3in straight through (almost no back pressure) to that valve totally choking the exhaust off will really mess up the air fuel ratio, it will kill the turbo spool up for sure, as long as you didn't get into the throttle to much with it closed should be ok, adjustable sound level would be awesome for sure
I agree with what you are saying Utah, what I am thinking is when I am cruising through my subdivision, or dropping kids off at school, have it closed. Then when I go to get on the highway, open it up.
Obviously, I wouldn't be opening the engine up when the exhaust is closed off... but that could be an awesome fix, getting the 3" that I want, and a quiet exhaust when I need it.

Also, looking at it, they have a kit that will wide open the exhaust when you reach a certain RPM.... oh, that is cool.... have it go wide open at like 3300 rpm...
And apparently the butterfly doesn't have to be totally open, or totally closed, it can act like a throttle, and be part open, which they didn't show in the video.... but they should have.
Can axion get this?

I found a cheaper alternative to the varex
