So I just bought my K&N airfilter and will replace my original paper filter (comes in tomorrow) but before I do all this here is a simplistic layout of what's gunna be going down. feel free to comment or make suggestions.

Here is the original setup our TSX has...

Now here is what is looks like with all the extra junk gone...

And finally using the original rubber piece from my resonator I will connect my custom made downleg (most likely out of pvc)

I would take off the resonator box, the part goes on the left side away from the resonatorbox to the middle of the car fits with the part which comes from the airfilterbox, put them together again and close the two little holes that are where the resonatorbox was. Take off the part which goes up to the motor. Perhaps make a curve to the Frontgrill with an extra part
I think thats the way you get the most cold air, almost like a cai, only different is that you have the K&N filter in the same place as the Original and not on the end of a CAI.
Thats my plan, the Resonator box I have removed already, and I will try to find a sportairfilter that fit in the room where the Original is! If my thinking is wrong feel free to correct me!!

I think I understand what you are saying. If you want, use the images above ^ to draw out your design better. Maybe you can make your idea more understandable.

3" Same size as the resonator pipe. I took the rubber piece with me so I could make sure it would fit.

Thanks, I'll be posting pictures of the install most likely this weekend. Oh yeah I try to make it a habit to go to the range at least once a week. I think I was using a Beretta 96.

I got a friend who hooks us up on the prices, and buying your own ammo is a lot cheaper than paying for it at the range!

Yeah man! Pretty nice down there. Sucks there are no places close for distance shooting. Shooting a 30-06 inside sounds like a fucking explosion haha. Currently in the process of getting a ccw. Between my car and guns my bank account go down faster than a Tri Delt at UCF.

hi if you dont mind me asking 2 things

firstly, in that diagram, i recognise the resonator, but what is that other crap extending behind the resonator and below the airbox?

secondly, this setup sounds like a Custom CAI setup, except the filter is where the airbox is?
and if CAIs have potential risks of water getting in, how is this any different?

what i mean is, i dont know whereabouts the actual inlet is going to be. perhaps u can pointout whereabouts near the grill/bumper (vertical wise) its going to be positioned?

from Hondos thread on how to remove the resonator, it seems like the piping basically goes down, then back up.

am i understanding you correctly, in that youre basically allowing it to go straight down and horizontally facing outwards , thereby removing unneccesary piping and improving the direction of intake?

what i like about this mod, is that ur essentially keeping ur OEM parts, so if it doesnt work, u can still put everything back!

also, would soft rubber tubing work just as well? i think that u wud be able to position it and stuff easier?

ROFL, Tri Delts, gotta love em.

yeah I used to go there when I was at UCF. I heard they expanded the store. I remember when I was there, they were in the process of expanding the range to include a rifle range.

At least know you don't have to wait as long for a CCW. I was one of the last batches that had to wait like a month for one.

Well, to be correct... any intake that draws in air away from the hot engine bay is considered a CAI. And yes, this setup is supposed to be a custom CAI. I wanted to go this route for a couple of reasons. Money, and for the exact same reason you already stated, going back to OEM parts if you wanted. Essentially what I have done is created an ICEBOX ( you can look it up on google) My filter is still in the same place, I have just replaced it with a K&N high flow cotton filter instead of the disposable paper ones. Now for your question about the crap that is to the left of resonator. If you don't look at 3D models very often I can see your confusion. It is probably exactly what you saw on the Honda forum. It does literally go down then back up. Helps to not suck in water and draw in air farther away from the engine bay( but creates a lot of restriction to airflow at the same time) Now for my setup, I removed the resonator and will be replacing it with the piping above ^ If you could cut the fog light out you would see the opening of my custom downleg. I would think soft rubber tubing would work fine, if you could find it. I chose pvc cause it was cheap and accessible. Not too worried about drawing in water because my filter sits on top still. (And I read that you have to be completely submerged to hydrolock anyways) Hope I answered everything.

^^ Lucky bastard... Saving up for my own handgun. I feel like my car might yell at me for being cheap with her and dropping $300-500 on a gun lol.

Maybe she will appreciate it if I ever have to save her from being stolen haha

:o I'm still a TINYYYY BIT confused on this custom intake but I THINK I know what's going on (sorry, can be a bit slowww). I will be definitely be looking forward to this mod when you're completed! PLEASE TAKE LOTS OF PICTURES

And to add onto your comment about aftermarket intakes being too expensive, I'd be happy to pay $250 for one.. except I'm from Australia and the cheapest intake I can get is around $400 for our cars ):

Edit: Which way will that curve bit of your PVC pipe be facing? To the left side of the car? Straight ahead towards the fog lights or to the right side of the car? (This is from looking head-on with the car)

Dude, no bullshit but I had to dump a few rounds on a mofo in NC around 2009 for trying to make off with my ride. Glock30, .45 cal...... I suggest getting a concealed carry permit, it definitely makes life easier if you have to pop a mofo.

Euronoob- if looking straight at the car the opening will face the fog light.

Dude, if you go to the National Azine Meet in Kansas City, MO I will definitely tell you the entire story. Not too sure if everyone on Azine needs to know the business. Guys might start thinking I'm a thug or something..... I'm just always prepared. Times are harder for some people and they'll do anything to pull out of a slump.

Alright, alright we have all been waiting and here it is.

Hard to get good photos with not much room to work with. Got to take it for a test drive. The only thing I noticed instantly was that it didn't sound as mean like when the resonator was removed. As far as feeling any gains, I am still unsure... hard to get past the sound at first. From 2nd gear rolling at about 15-20 mph I floored it and didn't feel much of a difference. But from rolling in 1st gear at about 10mph to flooring it I really felt a "little more kick" right towards the very end before shifting to 2nd and after shifting to 2nd it felt more dramatic than before. Still wanna drive some more before I give more info.

oh nice work!
i can get wat ur trying to do now that therespics. is it possible to extend the mouth of the inlet further, or add a wider/duckbill sorta inlet for more air
basically, i was trying to do an icebox desig ike you, but didnt know if it wud work, but its strange that u say that you cant feel any certan resposiveness and there's less sound.

when u simplytake out the resonator, is that space simply an empty void?

btw those who want a cheap proper cai forthis car:

$79
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI....:WNAFP:AU:1123

it was that or ssjoeboe9's mod
