Talking [My Build] Lifesreality's TSX / Quick DIYs (Work in progress)

Hi guys,

This is my TSX, ill be posting more and more about the build as I mod stuff on it.
I learnt a lot from DIY guides from other members, so I figured out I'd make a similar semi-DIY thread with my build as I go.

Sorry for the quality of writing and all, i'm just having fun and sharing my progress

My latest mod is my tail lights.

Rear view before installing the film.

Bumper removal, 5 bolts on each side, 2 pop out clips under the bumper and 2 nuts to unbolt near the tail light and the bumper is out!

Headlights removed;

Middle tail lights;
After removing the pop out clips in the trunk, access the middle tail lights (3 8mm bolts to remove after unclipping the plastic trim near the trunk button.

Side tail lights;
Remove the 2 plastic caps on the inside of the trunk and you have 4 more 8mm bolt to get rid of and they're out.

I don't have pictures of the actual film installation, but I'd suggest going with the 2000 grit wet sandpaper + Smoked paint rather than the film installation I did.

I did the vinyl film way because I live in Montréal and cops are being dicks whenever they can so I figured by using a film I could take it out if they decide to ticket me about it to avoid the $$$.

Here's the final result, it was my first time installing a vinyl film on headlights/tail lights but im satisfied by the result.

Nights pictures comming up soon

You have to stretch the vinyl to make it look clean when working with pieces that have angles. try putting on vinyl without a heat gun... it just doesn't work

You're right, I used a hair dryer tho because a heat gun is too hot for vinyl, it takes more time but have a better finish.

I used a cheap Vinyl I bought on ebay;
http://m.ebay.ca/itm?itemId=251504690134

For a 10$ item I'm satisfied of the result.

My grille got damaged in a light accident with a stupid cyclist so I decided to plastidip it to conceal the damage done to it.

Heres the result

I'm gonna probably have to roll the rear fender to drop the car.

I live in Mtl so I gotta be careful, roads are a mess here.

They're awesome, except my rear passager tire leaking air, probably a bad job @ swapping the TPMS from my stock wheels at the garage.

You think that offset would give problems with a mild drop? I'm thinking maybe a tein h-tech and 18x8.5 +38 setup just to minimize the gap and the sunk-in look.. But I prefer function>form so not thinking anything crazy

They will clear no problem, as much as it looks like you enjoy modin you're TSX I would say go with coil overs they ride just as good as stock just a little stiffer so it handles much better and you can adjust the ride height to exactly what you like from stock to slammed, with the body kit you are getting it will look realy good with a good drop not just a little one like the springs would do. keep up the good work it's lookin good

Little update:
Body kit has arrived, i'm going to Champlain to grab it (I live in Montreal)... It's sad that everything car related is sooo expansive here...
I'm also stuck with leaking TPMS sensor. Only fix I've found is ordering the 3 part grommet, washer and nut and reinstall the TPMS.

But wait! There's a catch!... Can't order those in Montreal... Dealers won't sell me the separate part and they will only sell me the whole TPMS sensor...

The three parts i'm looking for are these:
42754-STK-A01 NUT, TPMS VALVE
42755-STK-A01 WASHER, TPMS VALVE
42756-STK-A01 GROMMET, TPMS VALVE

Dealers seems to be able to get me the nut and washer but not the grommet...

These TPMS sensors are pissing me off big time...

I found couple websites that I could order those from but I live in Canada and they seem to be only shipping to US...

That's the reality of living in Canada. Best bet is to get a US address/mailbox, spend a weekend across the border, and then come back with your parts without having to pay duty on them Check out http://www.cbiusa.com/ or something similar if you're interested.

Little update

Little update after couple months.

After couple parkings in Montreal and the wonderful weather here (crap) my front bumper and hood been damaged by rock chips and dumbasses hitting my car by parking into it...

I decided I may probably cover my hood with CF vinyl.

Any though on it? I was thinking on going with 3M DI-NOC Carbon fiber (CA-1170) for the hood. Which cost around 160$ CAD for 72"x48" rather than repainting the whole hood.

I'm in the process of getting the front bumper repainted and getting a new grille as well as installing my Type-s replica kit. I can't wait till summer

And for information purposes heres the hood dimensions for the 2009 TSX for people that may be looking into covering their hood with vinyl

Length (sides): 43.5 in
Length (middle): 45.5 in
Width (back): 58 in
Width (front): 46.75 in

Little preview of the grille:

Exclamation May Project

Winter's almost finished in Montréal.

And the car parts are pouring!

Project to be done in the next month and a half;

- Carbon Fiber Grille wrap. DIY
I've read so many bad comments about that Ebay CF Grille that I said fuck it and decided to cover my grille with CF wrap.

- Carbon Fiber Pillar & Door trims DIY
I've damaged my pillar while opening a door on the driver side so I decided to get CF Wrap to cover it up and get rid of those chrome windows trim

- Tein Street Basic Coilovers DIY

Will be dropping the card about 1.5 - 2 inch depending on the fitment with my current wheels and what Montréal's streets will let me.

- Type-S Replica Body Kit install & paint

I finally found a shop to get my kit painted and installed for a decent price. My front bumper will be repainted to remove any damage caused by a previous non-repaired bump..

Question also for people which messed around with their exhaust, Is there any way to extend the chrome exhaust tip without having to replace them?

By installing the Rear cover The tips are not long enough to show properly behind the car and I wanted to extend them a bit.

I bought the CF grille, and the quality of the CF really does look as good as the previews. I expect the fitment to be about as good as my CMOD-Mugen grille. But we will see..

you say the quality is good? post pics of the fitment please been eyeing that one for awhile and wasn't sure if the price is good for what you'll get
