Video on Nav for free - this works!(pics)

Ok so after a bit of messing around i figure out how to get the video on the nav screen with a gen 2 tech car. Im finalizing everything now and i will post more soon. Sorry about the crap pics i took them on my phone and there was glare from the sun. You can see that i took a pic of myself on the screen and a pic of the video on the screen. More to come.

Green - positive power
Black - power ground
Red - video ground
White - video
Gray&Brown - switching for video to run on screen

i still need to work out the kinks. That is the connector for the backup cam. I need to figure out how to bypass it now to make it come on when the car isnt in reverse. I had a movie playing on it before and it looked good.

Omg this is epic! You are my hero! I will be absolutely trying this out once you post some general instructions.

What is the video source that your using?

Also, in theory, when you figure out how to have it active in non-reverse mode, you could turn on the backup cam without being in reverse, which IMHO would be pretty cool.

This is epic man, a serious break thru.

More pics of this video goodness

I currently have this, along with a couple of other guys on the 3G TL side. All you have to do is splice into the R/V camera wire, and install a switch.

how do you get the camera to come on when the car is not in reverse though? Have you all figured that out?

I used a spare camera i had laying around my house. It just happend to be a 9v dc camera and the power going to the car camera seemed to be 8vdc when i checked. I am going to do more investigating and hopefully make a connector so no wires have to be cut or spliced. I just need to find that connector somewhere so i can make a spare. Im trying to put the time in when i have it but lets try to put our heads together here.

Now it's your turn. What is your video source?

... i can play dvds with this. Dvd works with composite video as well. I just used the camera becuase i had it laying around. When i get a free minute i will plug a dvd player in and take some pics/vid. I just wish i had a wiring diagram for the car so i didnt have to waste so much time mapping out the wires.

You were able to get the composite video working, but could you figure out how to either split it so that i can use the backup camera when needed, or to make it where the video can be streamed from an ipod either through composite streaming the ipod can do, or a dock connector via a usb cable. I have always been curious about this, and someone even joked around about just putting a tv behind the car and put it in reverse to watch movies.
