Acura Technician (or anyone)? Question for you...

Anone swapped out blown ELS front door speakers, is the speaker just blown or has the surround given up and detached from the cone? Also is the replacement speaker different than the original one? I've been curious since mine were replaced. I should have asked the tech at the time but he was busy trying to fix a headliner rattle.

I know only the front door speakers were blown but they replaced all the door speakers. The rear doors are powered way less than the fronts making them blow sorta impossible I'd think.

I also had the subwoofer blow. All it took was one ride with the windows down and forgetting to turn the bass and sub to 1 from like 4 or 3.

Anyhow just looking for some insight from someone who has actually seen what was, and what is put in there.

Thanks in advance! Love the car other than paying an extra 3,100 dollars for a stereo that I have to be careful about turning up.

Swap them all out as soon as you can I did it the first month I had the car. Blew driver door first then blew out driver rear after that bought some infinity's for the doors and added 2 12's polk subs with a 1000w amp haven't had a problem since.

Technically it's not actually Acura, it's their poor choice in partner for the ELS system. Panasonic isn't very well known for their speakers. Plus I read in a post on here somewhere that most likely the issues are being caused by the amp clipping. (also made by panasonic) No matter how good the speaker, an amp that clips will fry even the best voice coil. But I did find it interesting that when I called client services today, the guy on the phone said he hadn't dealt with even one phone call about this issue. Which makes me think people who are having the problems aren't going that extra step to call Acura directly and complain. This is important, if you don't have clients calling and it's just delaers replacing over and over, of course the dealer is going to replace, they get paid whenever they do. While I want them to make a living, I also want a final solution. I.E. an improved amp. Just my .02. I don't get why they wouldn't have just stuck with Pioneer equipment. But hindsight is 20/20...
