Question TSX Tech sub vs TL Tech sub

Hello Acurazine, this is my first post! I've been browsing for quite some time and have come across a lot of informative things. Thanks!

I purchased a used 09 TSX w/tech package last month and immediately noticed that 2 speakers were blown. I took it in and they fixed it and everything was gravy until last week. Another speaker was blown so I took it in and they gave me 2009 TL with the tech package.... apparently the systems in both cars are essentially the same, but it sounds WOLRDS better in the TL! i couldn't believe how much nicer it sounded. I got home and immediately went into the trunk to look at the sub, and guess what, it was enclosed. I'm assuming thats why there is more bass in the TL than in the TSX which has a free floating sub.

My question is, has anyone built a box around the sub in their TSX? I dont want to switch out subs or have a box taking up trunk space, but thought maybe i could get one built? Any feedback or suggestions would be appreciated!! I really want my stock system to sound like the TL's. The TSX sounds much weaker than even my civic SI which only had 350w of power...

I’m looking at replacing the stock sub (among other things) with and 8inch sealed unit. It’s a spring or summer project for me. I’m also looking at installing some good components and replacing the ELS amp/eq with a non-digital design, or at the very least installing my amp(s).

I've driven in the TL as well, and didn' tnotice a big difference in the base.. its really in how you distribute your sound in the vehicle that controls the base. and quality of sound.. hell I had a 2005 corolla with stock sound and my feet still vibrated when the base hit.

I'm sure you could get a box build, but I highly doubt it's worth the cost of getting a custom box built.

TSXXXY I'm surprised that you purchased a Tech knowing all the problems the sound system has.

My wife has a premium and I have a Tech. When my speakers are not blown we both agree that my system sounds better then hers.

wow.. maybe im just getting lucky with my speakers... i sure hope i don't blow them.. as i listen to my music cranked, 20+, subs are maxed out... i got the 09 tech with els.. and everybody that has sat in my car says that for a stock system this is amazing, super crisp clear sounds, the perfect amount of bass... im listening to either my ipod or my xm, a tip to people who are hooking up their ipod or iphones, turn off the equalizers on the ipod or iphones, cause it will sound really shitty with them on

lol, yes bass not base my bad. I listen to my stereo anywhere between 28 and 38 depending on the song and if my windows are open to release some of the sound waves. I've blown nearly every speaker but NOT untill I read the forums about others blowin there speakers like many of my other problems. i didn't notice untill someone else had the issue lol. I have my sound with about 51% to the rear, sub 1 notch from all the way up, and bass to the speakers 3 notches from maxed, and treb as high as possible. People who sit in my back seat complain about how loud it is while in the front it sounds just right. As well as all the bass coming from behind you it makes for a good rumble, and the highs in the front deliver the crisp sound.

Always want the majority of your sound in the rear, but not so much it sounds like its coming from behind you. In any car this makes a stock system sound phenomenal

and I like how I have never seen javier post lololol but he took the time to correct me haha

I really needed the navi because I drive out of Houston a lot and it really comes in handy, as well as the back up camera. My parallel parking has never been better. I'm sad that the sound quality is not what I expected it to be, the highs are very crisp, but like I said, the bass is lacking. I guess I'm stuck with it!

tsxxy try my method, Turn your sub down 1 notch from max bass to the speakers down 2 notches from max, and put your sound 1 to 2 notches to the rear ( see which sounds better for you )

It will sound a lot better.. of course maybe i just listen to music with a lot of bass in the songs?

I am going to try a ported sub box this summer and run the port hole through where the factory sub is. I think it should sound pretty nice that way.
