Is there a TSB for defective/blown speakers?

The driver's side door speaker buzzes like crazy, especially at certain bass frequencies (09 tech). I can't tell if other speakers are defective as well.....maybe I'm paranoid....... but the overall sound quality seems to be deteriorating.

I have heard other similar complaints. Does anyone know for sure if there is a TSB out on this, and could you please post it if possible?

I don't know if there is a TSB but Acura knows of the problem and the replacement speakers have a different part number. That said, I've replaced the front door speakers four times. Three passenger and one driver.

BTW. It seems to affect the Tech models. My wife has a Premium and she blares her music and hasn't had any problems. Mine is a Tech.

it's sad

I've had both door speakers replaced in my 09 TSX/Tech. The TL loaner I have now has a blown door speaker. You would think that the upgraded sound system would have upgraded speakers. My issue now is a distortion in the Bluetooth speaker. Frustrating. My 05 TSX/tech was the best car ever built but the 09 experience has left me a bit sad.

I bought my 2010 tech TSX 12/31/09 and this morning I started hearing a buzzing distortion from the passenger front speaker. Kinda disappointed to have this problem when I've only had the car less than 2 months.

I had my front driver side door speaker replaced two weeks ago (2009 tech). Now I hear a problem from the right side , definitely the rear door speaker and probably the front one too. The distortion seems to occur only at certain sound frequencies, even at relatively low volumes, and sometimes during radio voice commentary. Otherwise (most of the time) the sound is alright I think.

I had the rear passenger side door speaker replaced today. They replaced the front driver side one 2 weeks ago. Now everything seems fine. I really hope this isn't going to be an ongoing issue.

I've had six speakers replaced in total. What a joke. The whole reason I got the Tech was for the stereo system. Don't care about the back up camera and the Navigation system in this car is pretty weak. A good Garmin or Tom Tom would do a better job.

Joke is on us I guess. The fact the Honda hasn't done anything at the factory level to fix this problem doesn't say much for them. Even the new TL with Tech package has the same problem.

I just bought a 2009 TSX Tech and it sounds like the passenger side door speaker is blown. Really not that impressed with the sound system so far.

^ Yes. I had the driver front driver side door speaker replaced last year, and going to have the front passenger door speaker replace tomorrow under warranty.

Yes. I have had to have a whopping 6 replaced since buying the car 2 years ago (do a search, you'll find the threads). One was blown at purchase, and the rest started to go soon after. I never pushed the system either, and you could clearly see the cheap build quality when they were taken out and examined.

*Knock on wood* all of the replacements have been holding up well so far.

Yeah they replaced my front passenger side door speaker, no problem. Much easier than I thought it would ever be.

I bought my 09 TSX tech package about a year ago, and about 2 days after I drove it off the lot I noticed that more than one speaker was blown. I set up an appointment at the Acura dealership, and they ran a few sound tests and replaced all of the blown (4 speakers). If your car is still under warranty, you will have no problem having them replaced for free.

2nd Blown Speaker Replaced Today

My '09 TSX Tech blew the front driver's side door speaker a few months after I got it. It was replaced by the dealer under warranty and it seemed they had a bulletin or at least were well aware of the problem. Now the rear driver's side door speaker has gone the same way and I have it in the shop as I write this. I don't play it really loud nor do I have the bass cranked. When the speakers go they make a garbled fuzzy sound which is especially noticeable when listening to voices rather than music. I am also having them repair the front drivers side door handle which suddenly stopped working. I have to roll down the window and let myself out using the outside handle.

I bought a used 09 TSX Tech in December. I have had to replace 2 speakers so far. They are clearly defectively made and the magnets are way under powered on these speakers. I can see where the speaker cone gets glued to the out frame messed up. Which causes the cone to bind up and not float in/out smoothly. If it happens again, I am just going to buy 4 better quality aftermarket speakers and put them in myself. Jim

I have had a total of 4 speakers replaced , and since the replacement units have gone it ... they have not blown yet ( crossing my fingers ) .... I usually keep mine around the 20-25 and flat right across.

Does anyone have any problems with the replacements ? lately ?

I replaced them myself as they are not under warranty for my car...(rebuilt title- due to hail damage). It is not hard to do if you have the right tools and are familiar with how to remove a door panel.

wow glad to find (not really) that I'm not the only one with speaker problems. Bought a CPO months ago and the speaker has definitely blown. I was concerned about bringing it in since you can tell it's blown only at certain levels and I wasn't sure how much of a hassle the dealership was going to give me.

In any event, since mine is still under warranty, do I just call and make an appointment? Do they usually replace the speakers that same day?
