Tech Package Purchase...Picking up soon
I just put a down payment on a tsx tech package yesterday. It is to be picked up later on in the week. In the past 24 hours I have been nervous about the purchase. I guess I was caught up in the excitement of the new car and technology. What is your experience with the tech package so far? Is it a great investment or have you had bad experience with it so far.
Thanks

I am just scared it doesnt work properly or it breaks etc. In terms of the voice recognition does it work properly recognizing your voice or do you have to constantly repeat yourself.

I was going to go for the tech until all the amp/speaker issues came up. Also the fear of a fully integrated navi system. If that fails, well, I wouldn't be happy. So I decided to save myself $2,700 and went with the base. I'm still as happy today as I was the day I bought it. No regrets whatsoever. And I can tinker with it a little bit too and add the things I really want. ELS is a joke by the way. I think my stereo, after it broke in, is way better than what I heard coming out of the ELS. Do you needs maps? Is it that convenient? I find things like that to be a bit of a distraction while driving. I plug in my iPod or get my bluetooth audio going and I hit the road. It's that easy. And I don't have to hit "accept" on the navi everytime I want to do anything with it at all. But if those are all features you crave, then go for it! I believe people buy these cars for their quality, the engine, and the appeal. Everything else is a bonus. Either way I think you'll be happy. I've got 6,000 blissful miles at more-enjoyable-miles-per-gallon and I use my paddle shifters almost exclusively now. It is a delight. Just replace the tires with something better. ;-) Good luck!!!

You'll enjoy it. You'll also get a bit more for the car when you buy/trade in the future, so it's a bit of a wash as far as the extra cost.
I like the convenience of the nav without having to get out a smaller unit, attach it to the windshield, plug it in, etc.
The stereo, while nice, isn't mind blowing. Certainly good for a stock system, but if you're a hardcore audiophile there are better options out there.
I don't think you'll have any regrets.

I have one blown driver side speaker in two years on my 09 Tech model, took the dealer less than 45 minutes to replace under warranty.
I like the convenience of built-in GPS (which come in a larger screen) and the integrated rear camera is a real bonus for parking and safety.
In terms of voice recognition, it can be frustrating when trying to voice dial if there is too much background noise, but I imported my phonebook into the system, so I just select through the centre knob and dial by directory.

No mixed feeling at all. I have the car for two years now, 35K miles and loving every minute of it. I don't know if I would be able to go back to a less TECH car.
Three warranty related issues came up:
1) blown driver side speaker (Tech ELS system)
2) cup holder won't closed
3) premature rear brake wear.
All three items were repaired under warranty during schedule maintenance (so I did not make a special trip to dealer). The last one with the rear brakes, the dealer replaced both front and rear pads with newly redesigned one complete w/ machined rotors all under warranty.

I drive a tech and I have had zero problems with my speakers, and I grow tired of people citing the lack of speaker problems as the main reason the base is better than the tech.
Edit: I recently flew on business class for the first time, a long haul flight. As you know one pays a premium to fly business class. The seats in business fold flat so you can sleep in them like a bed. If I told you I didn't want to pay extra to fly business class because my friends told me the seats had a tendency to break down with the extra mechanical parts inside that allow it to fold flat, that would be pretty ridiculous.
