Switching fuse on driver's side fuse box for radar detector?

Hey everyone. I'm trying to re-use the fuse tap setup I had in my previous car, as I've had bad experiences in the past with the mirror tap products (flimsy leads breaking). I can't for the life of me find a "switching" fuse slot in either the driver side or passenger side fuse box. What is blowing my mind is when I have the regular DC plug that came with the detector plugged in the front accessory DC outlet, the detector behaves itself - turning on and off whenever I turn the car on and off. But when I tap Fuse #23 which powers the front accessory outlet and hardwire it, the detector stays on all the time! What gives? Is the logic to turn on and off the DC outlet with the ignition within the outlet itself, not in the fuse box?

Does anyone know which, if any, of the fuses are switching - meaning they will turn off when I turn the keys off in the ignition? I read in one acurazine post that Fuse #5 is what goes to the rear view mirror so I'm going to try that next, but #23 staying on all the time makes no sense. I've also tried #12 on the passenger side fuse box which feeds the center console DC outlet, it also stays on all the time.

I'm using this fuse tap and putting a fuse in both slots on the tap. Wondering if this setup won't work on the TSX, and I'm forced to go with a mirror tap (which for $45 seems like robbery).

After a LOT of trying different slots, I answered my own question. Fuse #5 works perfectly as a switching supply. Specifically, it only turns on the radar detector when the ignition is in the ON position, not in the accessory position, which is what I was hoping for.

This might be helpful in determining which fuse slot will meet your specific needs. Unfortunately, it does not indicate how the power is switched.

bit late now, but fuse #23 is always on, there is a relay downstream that energizes when power is on, fuse 18 (7.5A), which turns on all the sockets, each of which are powered by their own fuse. #12 feeds console, no 16 (passengers side) powers the one in the wagon cargo area.
