Rear seat removal sequence

Hi all, new here, and new owner of a nice 2010 TSX Base. I found out like many others, that there are no speakers in the rear doors. So I am going to install some, following the ton of posts that i've found here. The question that I have, and haven't found the answer to, is, what sequence is there to remove the rear seat so that I can run the speaker wires to the deck? Do I have to remove the rear seat at all? I'd be happy to learn an easier way! Oh yeah, first post!

Its really easy. Remove the bench (it's secured by two clips on the front that you have to pull horizontally and a bolt at the back accessible with the seats down). Remove the bolsters (1 bolt per side). remove the black panels (under the front seat belts) to pass the wires through the rear doors. To make it easier, those panels are held by the door rubber strip, so remove part of them. Then you need to remove the door panels. Search for the instructions, essentially there are 5 screws holding the rear doors and many clips. Don't forget to by the speaker adapters for your speakers. Run the wire through the grommet, it's a PITA for the first time and plug it parallel with the rear speakers. It took me 2 hours when I didn't know what to do.

Good luck!

Thanks for responding! I'll give it a shot, and come back if I have any questions. I have all the parts and trim tools, so just need a free day to do it rght! Thanks again.

Are they clips or bolts securing the front of the bench on a 2010 TSX?

Its two hooks at the front and a slit at the back. You've got to pull two latches to release the hooks

For those that have installed speakers in the rear doors using either front/rear lines from oem sepaker lines, was it worth it? can you tell sound wise?

I noticed that the sound became balanced for the front passengers after installing two-way speakers at the back doors. What I mean is that for example, I can now feel that the singer's voice is right in front of me, not to the left, not to the right whether I'm sitting in the driver's seat or the front passenger's seat (and that without the need of a center speaker). Also, for the driver, you have the perception that the left channel is located beyond the window, vice versa for the front passenger. Those speakers don't make any difference for rear passengers at normal sitting positions.

The soundstage is broader (wider?), the center of the music is in front of you, but the front soundstage is pulled closer to you (it might be a good thing or not depending on your taste)

haha I don't know if you understand me, it's kinda hard to explain the difference, but I can tell you there is a difference in terms of soundstage.

It might not have the same effect with the stock speakers because I upgraded all of them.. and it also depends on your seating position, I always sit with the seat all the way to the back and at the lowest position.

I see what you mean, Thanks for the info.
I don't have plans on upgrading the other speakers (yet) so I was wondering if it was worth it installing speakers in there (aftermarket) Unless I find two used oem one's that way I can keep the sound level the same lol

2010 rear speaker polarity?

Okay, I succesfully installed rear door speakers in my 2010 TSX, without too much trouble. The second door took like half the time of the first... The hardest part was running the wire through the boot in the door. I had a skinny tubing brush; basically 2 bendable wires twisted together, so I torched the bristles, and duct taped the end of the wires to it, and fed them through. All went well, until I got to tapping the rear deck speakers... I tried to find which wires are the positive on the right and left, and couldn't find anything. So I guessed. I used the orange on the right, and the yellow on the left as the positives. Could someone tell me if I guessed correctly? Lol.. It sounds Sooo much better! Oh yeah, I snapped the bottom plastic clips on both bolsters taking them out. I like things symmetrical, I guess!

I figured out the polarity by using a 9Volt battery. All good now.

I went with 6.5 inch Kenwoods, with the adapter ring from Crutchfield. A pretty easy install, once I figured out how to get everything out of the way. Oh yeah, it is worth it, as it sounds so much better, as described above...
